Mr. Fantastic Spills Some "Silver Surfer" Beans

While out promoting his new Michael Apted film, "Saving Grace," actor Ioan Gruffudd has to field a lot of "Fantastic Four" questions, but he seems to handle the stuff pretty well, going so far as to offer a few new tidbits to AICN.

AICN's Quint was the one throwing the questions out, and Mr. Gruffudd followed them up with "Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer" answers that weren't too spoiler-y.

"I'm very excited about it because it takes our movie and our franchise to a whole new level. It's up there now where they're comparing the effects to those of the SPIDER-MAN movies, which is a film that is $100 million more expensive than our movie, and rightfully so, it's an awesome franchise. I think the fans will not be disappointed. It is as he (The Silver Surfer) arrived in the comic books. He's an ambiguous character. Is he the protagonist or evil, or just the messenger of evil? We're not quite sure."

The actor then goes on to discuss a few problems with the original flick, the relief at being freed from an "origin story," the wedding between his sister and Flameboy, and the presence of something called ... Galactus. Click here for the full interview.

Hmmm. I was hoping there would be MORE of a presence of Galactus in this movie. Still have fingers crossed that this will be a good movie - trailer looks good.

Silver Surfer looks great in the trailer. I may actually go see this movie, just to see Silver Surfer, even though I refuse to see the first one due to the complete disrespect the movie shows to Dr. Doom's origin/storyline. I'm glad that they're holding off on Galactus. My opinion remains that Fantastic Four comics should never have been made into live action movies.

I'll stick with the old Silver Surfer comics from the sixties myself.

"CHHemystry wahn oh whan, what HEYPENS when EYEW..."

Seriously, Ioan Gruffudd took elocution lessons from Christopher Lambert. It's like Wales and Switzerland are the same place or something.

bad bad bad
the first fantastic four was sooooooooo sooooo sooooo soooooo sooooooooo bad.I was more than disappointed. Predictable story, poor script and not enough action. How can u have four superheroes with exceptional powers and not have enough action? spider-man is alone but he delivers more action than the "fantastic" four. The actors were not even the least enthusiastic in the movie. How can you not be enthusiastic in an action movie? Even Paula abdul would have been able to act extremely passionate. Jessica alba acted like someone was forcing her to star in the movie. I love the cartoon but the movie was just PLAIN HORRIBLE. I really hope they upgrade in the sequel.
