Zombie Keeps Adding Bodies to His "Halloween" Cast

At this point it feels like Rob Zombie is doing a remake of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" instead of a "Halloween" reboot. We have some more casting news for the flick, which seems to be employing at least half the actors in Hollywood.

According to Movieweb, the newest actors to join the "Halloween" party are Richmond Arquette, Tom Towles, Daryl Sabara, and Hanna Hall. They'll be joining a mega-swollen cast that includes names like Malcolm McDowell, Danielle Harris, Dee Wallace-Stone, Tyler Mane, Ken Foree, Sheri Moon-Zombie, William Forsythe, Danny Trejo, Clint Howard, Adrienne Barbeau, Brad Dourif, and Udo Kier. (What, no Bruce Campbell??)

We're still waiting to see if this new flick is more a remake, a sequel, or a relatively fresh approach that's just using the "Halloween" name because it guarantees a solid box office return. Mr. Zombie's "Halloween" upgrade is scheduled to open on August 31st, which will enable the DVD to hit your fists by, yup, Halloween night.

perserve the precious Halloween franchise. We don't need Rob Zombie coming into this project with some over the top B grade actors, a complete revisioning and bastardization of the original. Rob, if you don't mind we'll stick with the Busta Ryhmes or tainted Halloween masks from years past. And don't ever think of treading into creative territory again.

Seriously, why do people care so much what he does to this film. I'd like to see him reimagine half of the popular slasher flicks. If you don't like it, no one is breaking into your home and stealing your original copies. You'll always have those to enjoy. Halloween was already in the crap house for the last 15+ years, where was everyone on that one?

I'm already imagining this cast with Zombie's trademark dialogue, and it's already cracking me up.

I've read two reviews of the early screenplay online and neither writer felt too excited about what Zombie has done with the story/characters. It appears Zombie is trying to "explain" Michael Myers which is not a good thing considering he is regarded as "pure evil."

I'm so indifferent to this movie. Halloween is one of the great old slasher flicks but this is either going to be really bad...or really good. Malcolm McDowell is awesome but Tyler Mane as Michael Myers? I moderately like Zombies earlier work but EVERY other John Carpenter remake made me want to puke. I would get a little excited if Bruce Campbell's in it though...we can all dream. Plus Michael Bay's not involved, that's got to count for something. Please don't ruin this franchise like the generation X directors have done to every other good, well known horror franchise.

Get real buddy, as if the Halloween movies didn't already suck. There's no way he could make the franchise any worse than it already is.

And his previous work sucked? That's your opinion. I along with plenty of others appreciated House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects. It was something different and very much needed.

I totally agree with the monkey man. Zombie is the hackiest of hacks. "1000 Corpses" is an atrocity and while only slightly better, "Rejects" scrapes the bottom of the barrel of torture-porn schlock.

If it weren't for the name recognition factor, these movies would be in the discount, direct-to-video bin alongside Uwe Boll's "House" and "Shark Attack 3".

If he wants the movie to be fresh he shouldn't be hiring all these known actors, especially one's previously in Halloween movies. He should have a couple known actors but for the most part they should be not known. It wouldn't be bad to explain Michael Myers' evil since it would be a different turn. I just hope they stick with it as simple as they can. As the original one was, completely simple, pure evil that's it, he was just evil. Micheal was born evil like some psychologists beleive people can be. Soo it wouldn't too bad to discuss how one is born pure evil I just hope they keep that part of the movie simple and not embilish it too much. Like in Terminator 2 what if they talked and talked about how the time machine works and the kinks involved in making time travel possible. The movie would have confused itself. Michael Myers is the most classic villian because they didn't explain his evil, expect in part six which I think doesn't count becuase it sucks, but every villian has a reason to kill he doesn't. He's timeless.

Does anybody remember the website that reviewed the script? Because its supposed to be horrible. With Zombie at the helm, we can hope this'll be the last of the series. I mean honestly, the guy directed 'House of 1k Corpses' which was an absolute disaster. And he also did 'The Devil's Rejects' which was just as bad. The scene at the end with Free Bird playing was down right embarrasing. I dont think it matters who's casted in this remake, its still going to suck.

Adrienne Barbeau was in THE FOG, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, SWAMP THING, and CREEPSHOW, Dourif does the freakin' voice of Chucky and he played Wormtounge in the LORD OF THE RINGS flicks among a ton of other random roles, and Malcolm McDowell was in A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. I haven't heard of every person mentioned but geez.

Somehow I still don't care about this film. I don't really care for the original either, but at least that one was done by a competent film director. Zombie should stick to making music, not movies.

I maintain that I like Zombie. I thought the last scene of "Rejects" was actually really good!
But I'm going to agree with the prevailing opinion that explaining Myers' origins is unnecessary and probably ill-advised. "Hannibal Rising" anyone? Villains work much, much better when they're just unexplainably evil.

Too right, frogleg. There was no need to "explain" the beginnings of characters like Leatherface, Hannibal, or even Darth Vader, and there's absolutely zero need to go indepth on the origin of Michael Myers. Much of what makes the character interesting is that he CAN'T be explained, and if Zombie trumps up some half-assed reason for why he can't be killed (some stupid voodoo crapola will doubtlessly be blamed), then the fans will be lining up to take turns donkey-punching Rob in his most sensitive areas.
