"Grindhouse" to Be Sliced Up for Overseas Consumption
by Scott Weinberg | February 20, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Remember how Tarantino's "Kill Bill" was originally intended to be one long movie, but the filmmaker (with some advice from the Weinsteins) decided to split it into two movies -- for "artistic" reasons? Looks like the same thing could be happening with "Grindhouse" ... in some countries, anyway.

According to Variety, "Grindhouse" will be distributed as two separate flicks (Robert Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" and QT's "Death Proof," in case you haven't heard by now), but only in parts of the globe where A) people don't speak English, and B) people have no freakin' idea what a "grindhouse" actually is.

Word is that in order to bulk the movies up, some 'additional footage' will be wedged back in -- material that's just itchin' for a three-disc Special Edition ... right Harvey?

The full-bore "Grindhouse" (complete with fake trailers) hits North America on April 6th.

Right Kill Bill?

I still haven't seen the uncut version!

That's seriously stupid. Doesn't that just defeat the whole purpose of the film? Getting a two-for-one deal? Sucks for those guys.

I'm guessing most of the North American audience doesn't know what a grindhouse is, either, which is why they have to explain it in the trailer.

And I'm also waiting for the uncut (and unsplit) Kill Bill version.

I didn't know what a Grindhouse was until I seen the trailer.

Then all of a sudden IFC starts showing "grindhouse" movies.

Maybe the right thing to do is to show them togeather, teach them what Grindhouse is. Give a definition or whatever and show them togeather.

Its like we think foreigners are stupid and things should be dumbed down for them.

I'm sure a lot of foreigners feel the same way about us. And yes, that uncut Kill Bill DVD is way overdue.

I agree. Glad they aren't going to do that for us. I wonder how they'll do the fake trailers then.

I don't see the need for the uncut Kill Bill, since the length of the Kill Bill movies will force it onto 2 discs, the same as they are now. Unless Tarrantino is adding new scenes to the movies, what's the point?

If you have no idea what a Grindhouse is... were you stoned during the 70s?
