Sam Neill Knows Nothing About "Jurassic Park 4"
by Scott Weinberg | March 09, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
He capably anchored the first and third "Jurassic Park" movies, but it looks like Sam Neill won't be invited back if and when "Jurassic Park 4" finally gets underway.

The L.A. Daily News indicates that "JP4" is set to begin production some time this year, which means that Mr. Neill won't be included -- mainly because he already has his next two projects locked in, but also because he hasn't received the call. Regarding earlier reports that Neill's character would be coming back, the actor dismissed those reports as internet rumors.

And that's all we got, news-wise. Personally I think it's a mistake to boot the guy from the series. The actor brings a world-weary gravity to "JP1" and "JP3" that a more "actiony" hero would probably lack. Plus Sam Neill's just a cool actor, period.

In most forums you'll notice that noone justifies him with a responce, there's a reason for this.

I liked Pile better when he was using the same line in every post.

This whole attempt to re-invent himself is ruining the series!

That's to bad, I liked him in this series and was hoping he would be back. They should bring back Goldblum's character.

Or maybe they could, I don't know, stop making these movies? I feel like I'm on crazy pills!

Jurassic Park was one of the first movies to completely blow me away. It was, for me, astonishing. They'll never be able to surprise me with amazing effects in the same way they did with the first one, so i hope they surprise me with a fantastic plot.
unlike those other two pieces of horse shit. Before they start shooting, they should really make sure it's a great plot, and it should be grittier. They should really re-evaluate the whole JP situation.

In the last two movies, there is less than five minutes of memorable footage: Where the glass is cracking underneath Julianne Moore. That was really cool. Then I started to become annoyed that Julianne Moore was in such a piece of crap.

What you mean DON'T make an unnecessary sequel that's going to rake in huge amounts of cash?? You ARE on crazy pills! Every movie has to have unnecessary sequels! It's the law!

"How many secret islands did that old dude have?" LMAO, you should get an award for that one, or a pat on the back, or something.

Yeah, Jurassic Park is still w/in my top 2 or 3 favorite movies of all time. I saw it as a kid and fell in love w/ it, and it's still one of my favorites. And like Scarborough mentioned, I too was and still am blown away by the special effects (I mean the dinosaurs look better in JP1 than they did in Jackson's King Kong for christ's sake, and that's like a 13 year differential). JP2 wasn't all that bad in light of the JP3, but still bad compared to JP1. I think Sam should be happier than all hell to be left out of the next one. The only reason they're still pumping these out is because people still flock to the theaters to see them, to see dinosaurs eating people, regardless of the lack of emotion and believable characters. Jesus christ, those f*cking Kirbys were like cracking jokes and sh!t while being chased by dinosaurs who wanted to eat them in JP3. So yeah, lets just pray they stop it at some point, or make it good again (which I don't see happening).

ALSO, add to the list of memorable scenes in JP2, the part where they're all running to the compound through the high grass, and the raptors start picking them off.

okay jurassic park was a really good movie one of steven spielberg's best, jurassic park 2 was okay but nothing more not even alright just okay the part where the dinasour was in the city and jeff goldblum's really annoying sarcasim did not help the movie at all. Infact by the end i was hoping that it would end, so nevermind jurassic park 2 wasan't all that great and neither was jurassic park 3 i hated that movie the action and the acting was corny and poorly done, really the first jurassic park movie is the best one and the sequels were very dissapointing so i really don't think that they should make this. They should have been like okay number 2 sucked so let's stop the series but they went ahead and made a number three which was even worse. oh well, that's hollywood for you they would do anything for some money. Anyway i hope that if this goes through it will be amazing but i just can't imagine that happening after 2 or 3 so i'm just gonna say that i hope this project does not go through and steven spielberg or whoever the hell is doing it finally says "man we gotta stop this series it's getting repetitive" and they do some totally different unrelated and much better idea. As for Sam Neil good job your a good actor man wouldn't want your talents to get wasted.

I hate to break it to you...
but the fantastic plot isn't anywhere in sight. i've looked for a while and found (and nearly confirmed) what looks to be JP4's plot: dinosaurs run rampant on the Earth, a down-and-out ex-Marine, and super-raptors. i hope it's a joke, but it seems to me that it's not. ::shrugs:: i'm a sucker for JP films. so i'm excited.

and i'm an idiot.

Basically I want everyone from the first movie back and a much better story. I'm happy Laura's coming back but pissed Sam's been passed because I need a good Sam Neill movie and he hasn't been in any. I'm also pissed at this ridiculous story...it's like the sequel to that Dragon Wars movie.
