"Toy Story 3" Leads Locked, Hand-Drawn "Frog Princess" Also a Go
by Scott Weinberg | March 09, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are officially signed up to reprise their beloved roles in "Toy Story 3," which I believe is a sequel to "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2." Also, it looks like Disney is making a return to hand-drawn animation with their (eventually) upcoming "Frog Princess." Cool!

Unfortunately, "Toy Story 3" is not scheduled to hit screens before 2010 (!), but it's good to know that Hanks and Allen will be coming back. (We hope to hear the same news on actors like Joan Cusack, Annie Potts, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, etc.) Pixar lord John Lasseter says they have a "great story" for "TS3," the screenplay for which comes from recent Oscar-winner Michael Arndt, of "Little Miss Sunshine" fame.

In other news, production is beginning to ramp up on Disney's "Frog Princess," which will be a much-welcome return to the art of hand-drawn animation. Ron Clements and John Musker (co-directors on classics like "Aladdin" and "The Little Mermaid") are directing the New Orleans-based tale. Apparently "Frog Princess" will focus on Disney's first African-American princess. Randy Newman will be writing tunes for the flick.

Am I the only one who think privatepilesleftnipple is actually remotely funny? Geezus, if you don't like him, don't reply too him, you only feed the beast!

I'm really happy about Michael Arndt. Whey he won the Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine script, the narrator said that he quit his job as Matthew Broderick's little bitch go-getter to write the movie. Now he's penned a sure-fire Pixar-Disney hit! That's a true rags-to-riches story!

He has his moments, but when it's the same comment for every news topic, it becomes tired.

Nice! And a hand-drawn film, too? Excellent.

Why does the first African-American princess have to be the Frog Princess?

Thanks Circle 7 for doing such a bad job starting on "3" that Pixar had to scrap the entire thing and start from scratch. Now we have to wait until the NEXT decade.

Is that a serious question or are you just looking to flame-bait somebody?

I am so hyped for "The Frog Princess". I've been waiting for years for Disney to return to form with their 2D musicals :)

It is slightly ironic, but of course if the movie is great and does well, people won't remember anything ironic (except for the trollers in RT & IMDB). Messed up? Depends how liberal your views are.

Who are they going to get to replace Jim Varney?

Why is it people are so hung up with Disney and their first African-American characters? Why should we care? It is not like they haven't had African-American characters before, just not human ones.

Almost everyone at Rotten Tomatoes complains about trolls and flamers and here Rotten Tomatoes acts like one by stating a worthless bit of trivia that they know will start an argument. Real "professional" guys.
