Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd" On Hold
by RT Staff | March 14, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Production Tim Burton's adaptation of "Sweeney Todd" has been put on hold as star Johnny Depp cares for his daughter.

According to British tabloid The Daily Mirror, the star's four-year-old daughter, Lily Rose, is stricken with an illness, and as a result, Depp has decided to postpone work on the tale of the demon barber of Fleet Street until she recovers.

However, the production staff may lose their jobs if Depp doesn't return to the set soon.

"He does not want to come back until Lily-Rose gets the all-clear," said an unnamed source. "The plan is to re-employ everybody when she gets better."

"Sweeney Todd" tells the story of an English barber/serial killer. The tale was adapted into a popular musical by Stephen Sondheim.

Burton and Depp have enjoyed a fruitful working relationship over the years. They last collaborated on "Corpse Bride" in 2005. Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Alan Rickman are also slated to star in "Sweeney Todd."

His daughter was just released from the hospital, they are starting production again, its not like they just stopped production recently, it was at the end of February. Apparently from a US Weekly column, his daughter is in a much better state than before
and in that British tabloid column, that whole "unnamed" source thing saying about how everyone is going to get laid off because of this and they are going to hire new people, is complete BS. The only reason this was added to the column was probably to add to some interest to the article, and the dates are inncorrect as well but what are you going to get for British tabloids.

ANIMATED? YES? NO?
Does anybody know if this is animated or not? Is it sillicon stop-animation like "Corpse Bride"?

It's not animated, it's going to be live-action.
