Is Emma Watson Planning to Dump "Harry Potter"?
by Scott Weinberg | March 19, 2007
Discuss Article | Blog Article | Email To A Friend
Over the course of one news report, the info goes from "Emma Watson will NOT star in the final pair of Potter flicks" to "Well, actually, we don't know for sure." Sounds like it's contract renegotiation time, kiddies!

Some sources indicate that Ms. Watson wants to branch out and try different roles, and subsequent reports dictate that the gal IS expected to sign a new contract before too long. (It's all just too confusing to contemplate, isn't it?)

No money, no magic!

Seems that Watson's co-stars, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, HAVE signed contracts for Potters Part 6 and 7, but that Watson has yet to seal the deal, hence all the "will she or won't she" speculation. Apparently Warner Bros. is "extremely confident" that Ms. Watson will return to end the series ... which means they probably made her (and her parents) a very sweet offer.

She'll sign. If she doesn't, I think she will regret it.

I agree. It would really suck to only have 2 out of the 3 original kids finishing the series.

Just take the 10 million you'll probably earn from these movies collectively Emma and go buy an island and sip Pina Coladas for the next ten years. If you still wanna act after that, you'll probably find something.

Hopefully she comes back, she's got alot of life left to do other projects, just finish the series and make everyone happy and yourself rich.

The Harry Potter movies are so bland. It doesn't make a difference whether she returns or not. They will still be bad movies and huge successes.

Just as the Star Wars prequels cheapened my awed impression of the original Star Wars trilogy, so have the mediocre Harry Potter films dampened my initial goodwill toward the novels.

Frankly, I don't care who returns and who doesn't. The Harry Potter world would have been better off without the films anyway. And now that Order of the Phoenix is arriving, we'll get the worst film yet . . . based on what's easily the least-focused of the novels.

say what you want about her acting (i think she's easily the most talented of the three), but give her kudos to sticking to her guns and milking warners for as much dough as she can. anybody would play a little hardball if they had leverage, like she does. good for her.

She's come this far; I would hate to have the (quite decent) movie franchise of HP go down in flames because the original stars didn't finish the series. I really hope she stays. And, like you said, she will definitely be able to find other roles after #7 is done...it seems like a no-brainer. Oh. And there's the Persian-army-heap-sized pile of money, too.

The other two are doing other roles in-between filming Potter flicks, don't see why she can't do the same.

But I mean, the chick is already rich. Two more movies will certainly sweeten the pot, but she could already probably buy a small island or something.

The fifth book was probably my least favorite, just because I always wanted to punch emo-Harry in the face. Saying that, it will probably be able to transfer to the screen pretty well. There were two reviews out a little while ago and they both said it was around the quality of Goblet of Fire, so whatever that does for you...I personally think the third one was the best film thus far, but a lot of people seem to disagree for some reason so to each their own I guess.

I liked the 5th book..but yeah emo-harry is very annoying! XD it make want to slap him in the face like 10 times! XD I still prefer this book than the 6th one. I wonder how much will stay in this adaptation.

If I had a closed mind about movies that call for an imagination I would say this too.

And I ask: Have you even seen these movies??? (my guess is probably not)

Fortunately I have an imagination and I believe that the world of Harry Potter is a great thing for kids today, including the movies. I myself am not a huge fanatic but I enjoy the world that J.K. Rowling has created. But everyone does have their own opinions, however ridiculous some of these might be, but its a free country and the internet has given everyone a voice to complain or put down something that they couldn't think of, create or do themselves; So by all means voice your opinion.

But do keep in mind that the movies are created for entertainment for a general population, not just for you. If the movies were made just to please one person, then there would honestly be nothing. Have an open mind about things like this and an imagination. (This part also is a response to #679624

I liked the 5th one too, the 4th book is probably my favorite though (it was so much better than the movie).

I wasn't a huge fan of the 6th book simply because it felt like a set up, or prequel to the final book That, and the fact that 6 books in the formula became pretty stale. In fact, I'll bet the 6th movie is probably going to be terrible. Then again, I have to admit that the third book is probably my least favorite of the series, and so far it's the best of the flicks (to me). So, ya' never know.
