Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie Are "Wanted" for Graphic Novel Adaptation
Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy seem to be locked up for "Wanted," an assassination thriller based on a graphic novel by J.G. Jones and Mark Millar.
Timur Bekmambetov, of the "Night Watch" series, will be behind the helm when "Wanted" begins production this May in Eastern Europe. The screenplay adaptation comes from screenwriters Michael Brandt ("2 Fast 2 Furious") and Derek Haas ("Catch That Kid"), with a re-write by Jolie's "Tomb Raider 2" pal Dean Georgaris.
The story's about a guy who follows in his hitman father's footsteps after the old man is, you guessed it, assassinated. McAvoy will be the killer-in-training; Jolie his mentor. Apparently Ms. Jolie's character was a guy in the source material, but guys aren't sexy. Angelina Jolie ... is sexy.

on Mar 20 2007 10:26 AM The statement about Jolie's character makes no sense. I've read the series, and character that is the lead's mentor is The Fox, a woman who looks identical to Halle Berry (Millar uses real people for the looks of many of his characters, for example the lead looks identical to Eminem). If their going to change characters around, that's fine, but there was no male mentor, so someone's getting the info wrong. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2007 11:25 AM I just hope Jolie has some cakes before they start shooting. She's too veiny nowadays. I want hot Angelina back. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2007 11:44 AM FOLLOW THE SOURCE MATERIAL! From what I've been hearing, they're COMPLETELY changing the story around. If that happens, the movie's going to be $hitty adaptation, even with the hotness that is Jolie. And yeah, there was no male mentor for the character...it was the Fox as Warbreed said. on Mar 20 2007 06:17 PM As a big fan of Wanted it hurts what little heart I have knowing that Jolie is bringing her mediocre acting skills and big breasts into a part that deserves far better than this child collecting inflate a ho. Built in life preservers should not be good enough reason to cast her as the Fox. If you have not read this comic I highly recommend it (as if I carry any reliability or clout with any of you). It is not about ‘an assassin’s’ son so much as it is about a super villain’s son being trained to be more The Killer, his father’s super villain name, than ‘a killer.’ It’s coming of age.. no.. coming of badass tale than anyone who isn’t a half wit should enjoy. on Mar 20 2007 10:02 PM I can never understand why they don't have the comic book writer MARK MILLAR, write the damn screenplay! If you are going to adapt a comic, adapt the comic and don't make it crappy. I would like to see Zack Snyder for this... though I been saying that about anything comic book or video game related after seeing 300. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 21 2007 11:02 AM Ugh Please get your facts straight before "correcting" someone. Mark Millar is a comic book WRITER. I am a big fan of his. His work on Ultimate X-men, The Ultimates, and this are awesome. (Reply to this) |
