Summary

Award-winning mega-actor Sean Connery recently shared a few thoughts regarding the new James Bond movies, and it seems like he sure wouldn't mind playing the super-spy's father! (He also wants to get paid very handsomely.) Back to Article

Forget Bond's father, I wish he would play Bond again!

Man... his father? that just sounds B-Movie bad!
I think he'd make an awesome villian, though.
I'm all for that.

I want Daniel Craig to go up against him.
That'd be grand.

Except that Bond's parents are dead. They died when he was very young.

Is Connery going to call Bond "Junior" and help him find the lost ancient holy grail and fight Nazis?

Totally right, if he was cast as a major villian agaisnt daniel craig this movie would be so kick ass, but unlikely to happen, since most of his older fans would dismiss this idea all the way and i doubt the producers would be willing to dish out that amount of money.

I grew up watching all the Bond films and have not shame in saying Daniel Craig, based on that one film, is the best bond ever. Connery was great, but its been said.

Also, having him play Bonds father would be a joke. They might as well have him play some aged secret agent living in a cave somewhere that Bond goes to in order to seek guidence.

It would be freaken awesome though if he played the villain- I cannot think of a single reason why that would not be perfect

no one would like it... the entire movie would completely ruin the integrity of Royale. The whole thing would be a giant gimmick and every trailer would have that guy with the really low movie voice saying "ARE YOU READY FOR BOND <1 second crazy action clip with Craig> VS. BOND?"

if they market it as a joke then it would be a joke. We were thinking hypothetically that the studio might actually do this right

Yeah, Bond's an orphan, but I do appreciate the irony of the idea. First Austin Powers imitated Bond, now Bond is trying to imitate Austin Powers. Priceless. And whoever said Craig is the best Bond after 1 film obviously never saw Thunderball, Dr. No, Goldfinger or From Russia with Love. I think it's still debateable whether he's better than Brosnan, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Until he gets a few more great Bond films under his belt he's still number two he's not ready to wear the daddy pants (imitates hitting Daniel Craig in the face with a globe shaped beach ball)

I agree that Connery playing his father would be bad.

They should use Connery though. Perhaps they could have Connery come back as the 007 from the 1960s. The idea being that the number 007 and the name James Bond are assigned to an MI6 agent when that slot is available. That way, Connery could give Craig tips on how to be the ultimate Bond. It could also explain for the different Bonds over the years.

Bad Idea to play the Father Role, Maybe.... He played Bond a longtime ago, move on. And about Daniel being the best bond ever!!!! I don't know Maybe better than Dalton and the other, Bond who played (on her Majesty secret ... something) but like Sean or Bosnan, man!!! Sean is still the the greatest Bond ever.

im sorry but sean connery has no place in the new bond franchise.

casino royal was a much needed fresh start for the bond franchise, having throw-backs to older bond films would undo everything. connery - stay retired.

I can't think about Sean Connery without thinking of Darrel Hammonds's impersonation on the Celebrity Jeapordy (sic) sketch on SNL. Somone should make a movie about Sean Connery playing Darrel Hammond, Playing Sean Connery. IT"S GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go home Connery.
Before Daniel Craig squeezes ur manhood till it's purple and you scream like a little girl with a skinned knee.

One thing Bond needs is Bond Babes.
And Bond Babes don't take their martinis dry with a splash of Viagra.

GOSH im sooo mean, i should be ashamed.

Can anyone imagine Connery with a big mace destroying Bond's nuts while he's tired naked to a chair? Because that's the kind of darkness you'd have to see from Sean if you want the villain thing to work. Quite frankly, I can't see him pulling that off.

i just finished watching it casino royale on dvd, and on the train scene, dont they say that he is an orphan? i dont see how connery fits in with that line of thinking. but as a villian, it would be fun to see him sure, but craig is the big man around mi-6 these days, so i dont see the producers bringing back connery

Whatever they did to make Casino Royal, they should keep doing it!

Except the car chase! way to short.

Couldn't Connery play one of the Bond Babes?

It's ageist AND sexist to only give those roles to young women!

Connery back in Bond?
one idea could be that Connery is a previous 007 who turned rogue... disappearing for many years... only to resurface under an entirely different identity. He would surface as an source of information as a gentleman who has retired to a less comfortable part of the world to bask in his anonymity and escape his past. Of course it doesn't take Bond too long to discover that Connery's character has been playing him... leading to a showdown that begins as little more than friendly verbal sparring.

League of Extraordinary Gentleman wasn't that bad, you just needed an in depth knowledge of all the 19th century characters to really "get it". Which sadly many people didn't Connery was still strong in his role. He just bet on a bum horse is all.

A major action role for Connery would be just awful. Pure cheese. Plus cut the guy a break, he's pushing 80 isn't he?

HOWEVER, a small cameo would be amusing. (Remember Richard Branson at the airport in Casino Royale?)

Even better would be seeing Connery as M's husband, or maybe even if they bring a less cartoony Q-type character back
