Looks Like WB Found Their "Speed Racer"
by Scott Weinberg | March 22, 2007
Discuss Article
The project's been chatted about for a while now, but it looks like the brothers Warner and the brother Wachowski have settled on a lead for their "Speed Racer" adaptation, and it might be none other than Emile Hirsch.

Yeah, that kid from "Alpha Dog," "The Girl Next Door," and "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" will probably be the one to star in (and as) "Speed Racer." Production begins this summer in Germany, and the studio aims to have the thing ready as a tentpole release for next summer.

Needless to say, producer Joel Silver is involved. No word yet on additional cast members, but sources state that several of the established characters from the series will make their way into the movie version.

Emile is a little too soft to play him. I liked the other guy who was rumored. This sounds cracked, but waht about Haley Joel Osment? He'd have to lay off the pot though...

In that case how long will it be before we get "Bill and Ben The Flower Pot Men: The Movie” or that other Television classic “Barbapappa: The Movie”? The floodgates to televsion hell have finally opened and there's no closing them now. Thank's a lot Scooby Doo!!!!!

I second that, good to see the nipple back at the helm. Sad to hear the man is keeping him down!

Can we get a bigger wuss to play speed racer? Actually the cartoon character was kind of wussy. Remember that orgasm sound he made whenever he was in trouble?

They gotta have a racing scene where Speed spots Keanu Reeves and Hugo Weaving in a dead heat all while making that "orgasm sound" (in Dolby Stereo, of course).

Spritle, Chim-Chim & Trixie: Menage a'tois? Discuss.

Speed Racer Cast Etc.
Always envisioned Kyle MacLachlan as Speed, but he may be too old now.Vince Vaughn?? R U retarded??
John Goodman as Pops, Jonathan Frakes as Inspector Detector, George Clooney as Racer X (little does Speed know that Racer X is really his estranged brother...Rex Racer)
I could go on all day!!
Hope they don't screw this one up! At least Eddie Murphy isn't doing it with an all black cast!
