Gruffudd Prepares for "Fantastic Four" Reshoots
As the release of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" approached, star Ioan Gruffudd is gearing up to go back to work. Don't worry, these aren't major reshoots, but there are things that need to get done.
"I’m actually going to do some re-shoots this weekend, but nothing too drastic," he said. "It’s just picking up the list of shots, because there was a lot more green screen in this one, so I think there are certain angles they’re looking for. I think no news is good news actually in this circumstance. I think we’d certainly know and we’d been working on it sooner if there was a problem with it."
The original "Fantastic Four" added shooting to the ending sequence. At least this time, the climax is secure. "No, I don’t think we’re shooting any of the ending of it."
The teaser trailer shows Johnny Storm going after the Surfer one on one, but Gruffudd laments that Mr. Fantastic won't get to face off with Silver on his own. "Not directly, not one-on-one like that. But certainly collectively we have to trap him and catch him, or do we?"

on Apr 02 2007 06:31 AM In reply to this comment (#859949) Fantastic 4 was a lot better than people give it c The only weakness was really Dr. Doom, and I see it as a creation story for him too, so we'll see more of the Dr. Doom we're used to in this new installment. (Reply to this) |

on Apr 02 2007 09:24 AM In reply to this comment (#859950) Yeah... that and the incredibly obnoxious cast of pretty much everyone saved possibly the guy playing the thing. Also there was that one scene where they need to figure out how to get past a crowd of people, so Jessica Alba get's (mostly) naked, and then everyone notices she is (mostly) naked, and then they are magically on the otherside of the crowd. I'm sure I could come up with many other reasons why I hated this movie, but I think the aforementioned is pretty indicative of the overall quality. But hey, I'm glad you liked it and I hope you enjoy the sequal. However most of us that hated it, really did hate it, as opposed to not giving the credit it deserved as you are implying. on Apr 02 2007 10:04 AM In reply to this comment (#859951) Yeah, what the hell was that? They are on one side of the crowd, Fantastic says the can't get through so Invisible chick must turn invisible and get to the other side... then after the underwear part she's on the other side. She then says to Fantastic, "I can't believe I did that" (or whatever) and Fantastic says, "Well, you got us through didn't you?" How the holy hell did she get them through? What the hell did she do at all? They just walked on threw anyway, and what was she going to do in the first place even if there was a logical explanation? (Reply to this) |
![]() on Apr 02 2007 11:37 AM In reply to this comment (#859952) ILLOGIC REIGNS SUPREME The bridge scene was just one example of the utter lack of logic in the so-called plot of this so-called movie. For example, after the radiation storm hit the space station and eveyone on board, how did they get back to Earth? How did Ben Grim get from the medical facility, which was in the mountains, to New York? Did he walk? Take a bus? Hitchhike? He can't take an elevator because he weighs too much, but he can sit on a rickety bar chair. And speaking of the bridge scene, what are the odds that the other three would just happen to be on the same bridge at the same time that Ben is there? And people have the nerve to bad mouth "Superman Returns" and lable it as one of worst super hero movies of all time! (Reply to this) |

on Apr 02 2007 12:38 PM In reply to this comment (#859953) While I thought the movie was simply an OK popcorn flick, I think that the instances you mention have little to do with the plot (as you suggest) and more to do with being practical and attempting to move the story along without getting into minutia. First, the radiation that modified the DNA of the people aboard the space station didn't cause physcal harm to the station; therefore, I assume they got back to Earth in the same way they would have if the mission had been successful. Second, I don't think it matters if he stole a trenchcoat and jumped on a freight train (which is possible) or got to downtown NY in some other manner. Third, the other three were chasing the Thing, so them being on the bridge wasn't all that implausible. Fourth, gee he would likely crush a bar stool--I think it would be sort of difficult for him to sit anywhere (it would be pretty tough to film a story of someone who couldn't ever sit down); obviously, if he was turned into rocks, his internal organs wouldn't work and he would die--it's a frickin' comic book, it's not going to be realistic or practical in all ways! Finally, while the bridge scene was nonsensical, it was obvious that the reason for the scene was to get Jessica Alba in her underwear (which, frankly, I'm all for and let's me be accepting of a little bit of nonsensical). Sorry you hated the movie, but attempting to find every little inconsistency (even when they're not there) will likely make you hate a lot of movies (particularly fantasy based movies). ![]() on Apr 03 2007 08:10 AM In reply to this comment (#859954) Did you even see this flick??? First, they all just pretty much woke-up in the medical facility. It was implied that the radiation storm rendered them all unconscious. So how did they get there? Second, it does matter how someone gets from point A to point B, at least in a well-made movie where the writers actually take the time to try to craft a story. Third, the other three were looking for Ben, not chasing him. They had no idea where he was. So the fact that they all wound-up on the same bridge, at the same time, is implausable to say the least. And obviously Ben wasn't turned into rocks. He eats, he drinks, therefore his internal organs still work. But if he's too heavy to ride in car or to get onto an elevator, someone should've pointed-out that he'd be to heavy to sit on a bar stool (like my 14 year old son did). The problem is one of continuity. It has nothing to do with the fact that the story is based on a comic book. It has everything to do with the fact that this was a very poorly written film. Finally, I'm all for Jessica Alba in her underwear (or less) as often as possible. Just take the time to make the scene make a little sense. (Reply to this) |
