Line Up For Thursday Night "Grindhouse" Screenings; Check Our A to Z GuideTarantino/Rodriguez double feature the night before it opens nationwide. Bring on the gore!
Dimension Films is officially releasing "Grindhouse" Friday, April 6, but they know how to treat their adrenaline-craving, splatter-happy audience. That means you can line up Thursday for a late night screening, as long as you live in one of the following cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington D.C.
Meanwhile, we've prepped a handy A to Z guide to exploitation cinema for your pre-"Grindhouse" perusal -- a primer for the sleaze cinema neophyte, the Tarantino/Rodriguez fan, or the nostalgic cult cinephile alike -- that lovingly surveys the goriest, the sexiest, and the most infamous B-movies of yesteryear.
Curious about stylized Italian horror? Try the subgenre called Giallo (including films like "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage" and the works of Dario Argento). Want to see where shock cinema originated? Try the world of Mondo (pseudo-documentaries revealing anything and everything, including extreme subjects like filmed deaths). Haven't heard of nazisploitation? Meet "Ilsa, She-Wolf of the S.S." (the sub-sub-genre's most notorious figure).
