Halle Berry Nixes a "Storm" Spinoff
by Scott Weinberg | April 06, 2007
Discuss Article
Anyone out there actually believe that Fox would ever produce a "Storm" spinoff? Nope, didn't think so. But Halle Berry must have thought it was a possibility, which is why she pre-emptively decided "Nope, not gonna happen."

Most likely with visions of that darn "Catwoman" still wedged in her head, Ms. Berry recently said "That absolutely is not true and will never happen. Not with me anyway." Well, I guess that's that, isn't it? No "Storm" movie, straight from the weather girl's mouth. Now we can all sleep soundly at night.

I'll go out on a limb and predict she also won't be starring in a remake of "Gothika," a prequel to "Swordfish," or a sequel to "B.A.P.S."

She is a true hero now!!
Halle Berry saves us from another poor movie. With no regard for her personal bank account, she selflessly put a stop to any rumours of a Storm spin off.

A true Hero....

Oh yeah, and thank buddah

We need Bryan Singer to come back, Superman Returns style, and say part 3 never happened and make a part 3 the right way.

I know its sacrilege to all you Wolverine devotees out there, but I could never get what was so cool about him when he was surrounded by people like Storm, Cyclops, Rougue, and all the others who have real powers. All wolverine can do is produce blades, which anyone with a Freddy Kruger handset can do, and his body can slowly regenerate. Not very impressive.

I am gald Hale Berry is not making this movie though, after that Bond film and Catwoman she ought to try another serious drama like "Monter's Ball". I know the oscar she EARNED from that movie gave her access to all these high-paying roles, but they definitly made her into joke that I even forgot is capable of acting.

mikeal, its true wolverine doesnt have any real life practical powers (except regenerating and living longer than normal humans). we like wolverine because of the character. its similar to why people prefer batman to superman.

I understand exactly what your talking about, I think it maybe might of been the fault of the screentwriters or possibly overacting by Hugh Jackman. When I read the comics as a kid, Wolverine was my favorite despite his lack of powers, but in the movie he was kinda portrayed as a biker recently kicked out of "The Village People". Maybe if I go back to the comic books, I will have a different opinion.

please give halle storm
because that bitch needs another x-men movie to revivie her career again. Everything she has been in flopped except for the x-men movies. I am sure that fox almost wanted to give her the storm movie till cat-woman bombed in the box office.

I really enjoyed her speech when she recieved her star on Hollywood Walk.

She explained how she felt so good inside and wished that everyone could be inside of her.

I thought that was very nice of her for the invite, i hope i can oblige her.

They aren't doing a Storm movie because no one would want to watch it. At least not in the numbers that would rather see a Wolverine movie. Or an X-men movie with Gambit for goodness sake.

I don't think many of the X-Men heroes could do well in a stand alone spin off. Storm would be dreadful as a spin-off character... not because of Halle Berry, but because there would be no nostalgic team dynamic. The Wolverine movie that is soon to come out is going to be a rather dull affair because he will be lacking his X-Men counterparts and interactions... and I think many fans who were facinated with him in the movies will suddenly find themselves wondering "why?". Yes, Wolverine is a kick ass character, but I found him to be more so in the pressence of his peers. I do not have high hopes for the spin off... 'specially when his solo scenes in the X-Films bored me.

You're basing your opinion on three poorly written films. The comic, far superior of course, has shown that Wolverine is worthy of his own title. What people tend to forget is that the only consistency truly needed is good storytelling. Get the story down and everything else falls into place. A good example would be Deadpool. Not many outside of the comic book crowd know much if anything about this character, but a script about his story that's an exercise in good choices would be a pretty awesome film. In fact, why not a film with both Wolverine and Deadpool in it? They both have history in the Weapon X project after all.
