Orlando Bloom Talking "Superman" with Bryan Singer?
by Scott Weinberg | April 11, 2007
Discuss Article
"Take this report with a grain of salt" is something I have to say from time to time, just to help separate the confirmed news from the juicy gossip. This piece falls firmly in the latter category: Someone overheard Orlando Bloom and Bryan Singer talking about the "Superman Returns" sequel.

The report comes from one of those snarky celebrity gossip blogs that I'd never admit to reading, but it's just geeky enough to spread across the internets like wildfire: According to this blog, Orlando Bloom was spotted dining with "Superman Returns" director Bryan Singer AND producers Mindy and Jon Peters.

According to a blogger with very good ears, the foursome was "discussing roles" with one another. For all we know the conversation could have been something like "Hey Orlando, how could you pass up one of these (dinner) rolls??," but if and when Orlando Bloom officially signs on for a role in the super-sequel, we'll be able to say that a snarky celebrity gossip blog scored the news first.

OH, THE STUPIDITY...
Orlando Bloom is the WORST thing to happen to Hollywood. If you'd place a WATER DRENCHED WOOD LOG in his place--- it would probably do better acting...
This is so lame.
I'll not be able to figure girls out. How they think this guy is handsome is beyond me.
I'm handsome... How can't they notice that?!?

Scott, have you noticed how frequently your "news" items lately have included apologies about the unreliability of the source? You don't have to post those ones - there are enough gossip rags (or blogs) out there already.

I was one of the few people out there who actually enjoyed Superman Returns (There I said it). iT took me over a year to be willing to watch, and although the last 20 min could have been cut out, it was still pretty damn good.

Orlando Bloom is not a good actor and he does not belong in actions movies. The guy is pretty like a woman and always acts like an elf high on happy-pills. Please stop giving him roles.

(He was funny in his guest role in "Extras" on HBO, only because he made fun of himself so well)

Bloom couldn't make the movies any worse, unless he was cast as Doomsday. Of course, I might actually want to watch that. It would be the perfect addition to my crappy movies section, along with Battlefield Earth and Catwoman.

True dat. Just because this site is owned by IGN doesn't mean we need another rumor rag telling us that Nick Cage is slated for every superhero flick known to man.

With heavy make-up he could be a decent brainiac...they'd probably have to digitize the voice, but given the proper script he's got a British enough voice to sound smart.

Superman Returns was one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen. It wasn't that it was THAT bad, that would have been okay if you know what I mean... it was just THAT disappointing... I hope Orlando Bloom is in the sequel and I hope it blows absolute chunkage so that we can put the final nail in this franchise and move the f*ck on.

Yes he would be very intimidating as General Zod? How the hell could he play General Zod! He was born with a vagina, doctors later turned that vagina into a tiny penis.
I do agree Lois Lane would be great, the sex scene would be HOT!

Are you seriously saying that Fantastic 4 was more boring than Superman!
The production and writing and acting and effort they put into the first Fantastic 4 were a bit questionable but in terms of sheer bordom it doesnt even come close!
