The Weekly Ketchup: Two-Face Not in Next "Batman," Lucas On "Indy 4," "Grindhouse" May Get Chopped, And More!
by Nick Hershey | April 13, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
In this week's Ketchup, the villainous Two-Face will most likely be saved for a future "Batman" sequel, George Lucas gave some insight into the upcoming "Indiana Jones 4" project, and the lackluster opening of "Grindhouse" has the studio scrambling to repackage it.

Also, Tom Hanks is set to get even richer for the "Da Vinci Code" prequel, and we get our first look at Bumblebee after his makeover for the big screen "Transformers." Read on.

This Week's Most Popular News:

No Two-Face Against "The Dark Knight"?

A while back we heard that the Harvey Dent character would be appearing in "The Dark Knight" (he'll be played by Aaron Eckhart) but that his villainous alter ego (Two-Face) would be saved for the NEXT sequel. Looks like we might have some confirmation on that...

Lucas Spills a Few "Indy 4" Beans

No, nothing as juicy as, say, an actual movie title, but if, like me, you've been salivating over the prospect of a fourth "Indiana Jones" adventure for what feels like twenty years, you might be interested in what producer George Lucas had to say recently.

Will "Grindhouse" Split Up and Hit Theaters Again?

As far as the overseas release plans for "Grindhouse" are concerned, the Weinsteins were always planning to split the flick into two and sell 'em as solo movies. And now with the underwhelming opening weekend for the double feature behind us, it looks like they might want to do the same thing over here.

Hanks to Get Biggest Payday Ever for "Da Vinci Code 2"?

Sony was already warming up the "Da Vinci Code" follow-up when the flick opened to huge box office numbers, but the questions we still need to know are A) Who's directing, and B) Is Tom Hanks coming back?

First Full Look at the Bumblebee "Transformer"

So far you've only glimpsed Autobots and Decepticons in fleeting, as they smash their way through clips and trailers or loom in the distance of production stills. Now peek at the first detailed visage of a "Transformer" online!

A new Mamet film should be sweet, Jiu-Jitsu's a weird choice though. Ejiofor should be sweet in it. Nice to see James Earl Jones doing something, to bad it's a Martin Lawrence comedy though.

GRINDHOUSE SPLIT
Gindhouse did get "chopped;" in my city anyway. Full page ad in the paper saying "see 'em together or seperate" and the films listed as "Grindhouse: Planet Terror" and "Grindhouse: Death Proof" with different times, yet oddly enough, considering the supposed point for the split, the times were still spread out about 2 and a half hours for each showing of each film(!). I was tempted to go see one them (I'm of the "Death Proof" camp, by the way - sorry so many of you can't sit still) just to see how they would manage this, what would become of the faux trailers and other extras (would both films get all that stuff or would RR’s movies get his trailer and one other one and QT get the remaining two?) and just what the experience would be like in general of seeing just one of these film and how the “Grindhouse experience would hold up. But then I thought that if I was gonna go a second time, I'd just want to see the whole kick-ass thing again. I mean, lets face it, "Grindhouse" is not great because it offers yet another zombie or car chase/slasher pic, it is the whole experience that makes "Grindhouse" interesting. Plus, I don't want to encourage this stupid idea that came purely from a marketing standpoint or encourage the idea of these films coming out this way on DVD. The sad part is, even though the ad said that thing about still seeing the original film, only 3 theatres (of the 10 or so showing this) still give audiences that option. They were better off just letting things play out as is, hope for word of mouth to sell it, or change the ad campaign. This idea is more limiting than the three hour run time ever was and is going to confuse and piss off a lot of people who go but didn't read the paper carefully.
