Raimi & Dunst "Would" do "Spider-Man 4"
by Scott Weinberg | April 20, 2007
Discuss Article
As part of our daily "Spider-Man 3" coverage, we bring you a recent statement by series director Sam Raimi. Short version: Clearly he's not averse to doing another "Spider-Man" flick some time in the future, maybe.

After answering the question probably 5,453 times, here's what Raimi had to say about the possibility of yet another sequel: "
Absolutely ... Yes, I just don't know what the future holds right now because it's so fresh and just having finished this film like a week ago. It's taken so many years to put together. My mind is an empty blank right now." So there's your official answer, interviewers. You can stop asking!

"Next person who says 'Spider-Man 4' gets slapped."

In similar news, Kirsten Dunst mentioned that she too would return again ... provided that Mr. Raimi and Tobey Maguire were still involved. Me, I just wanna see the third one already.

I think they should just leave it as a trilogy (although I hear the ending of SM3 is really wide-open...that's too bad).

Let's have some new, original Hollywood blockbusters! All the "big movies" these days are just overblown comic-bookish sequels. In the '90s, the big ones were mainly originals: Jurassic Park, Forrest Gump, Independence Day, Men in Black, Titanic, etc...

How wide opened?
Like a goo of the symbiate costume morphing into a redish color and just so happens to land on a psychopathic killer that Spider-Man just put in prison in the beginning of the film?

Because thats what I'm hoping how it might end.

If you're talkin about Carnage, Defmonkey,... I hope not... he's like the K-mart of Venom... lame. They need to do one with Lizard... that would be cool...

Heck they're doing a J.L. movie, so why doesn't Marvel try a Avengers movie. We got spidey and IronMan already...

Raimi and Maguire might return? great. Dunst? ehh. i guess for continuity's sake, it'll be okay if she comes back for a Spidey 4. but if she leaves, i'm not crying. there are probably a number of actresses who are better for the role, and not to mention HOTTER than Snaggletooth Dunst.

I don't think they would do Carnage... as much as it would darken the series even further. His storyline requires too many outside resources from beyond the Spider-Man movie universe. Lizard they'd do... Kraven maybe?

Lizard and Carnage... My vote is for Timothy Olyphant as Cletus Cassidy (Timothy can play loony like no other, maybe give him a lazy eye too lol)...

Brock And Cassidy meet in prison, the symbiot attaches to Cassidy becoming Carnage, Carnage murders Brock and escapes prison. This all happens while Peter is helping Dr Connors experiment with lizard DNA to grow his missing arm back, failing, and resulting in Connors transformation into Lizard... voila, another 2 villain Spidey film.

Carnage probably isn't gonna happen as long as Raimi is running the show. He didn't even want to do Venom. Carnage was just a lame excuse to make Venom an anti-hero anyway.

If he were younger, I'd be up for Gary Oldman playing carnage.

Do you guys remember when Spider-Man started changing into an actual spider? And he had the six arms for a while? Thye should do something with that it's so campy it's right up Raimis aisle.

That was actually a spin off on doppleganger. I'm not certain how doppleganger was made but he had 6 arms and the spidey suit, but his body was the spidey suit and he had a gaping mouth full of teeth.

And of course I mean Carnage! Carnage might be the Kmart of Villians, but damnit I still like him. Maybe his character is kinda retarded (he's a psychokiller big whoop!), but his costume or whatever is really sweet. Thats what always caught my eye.

And I'm really surprised they haven't done The Lizard yet. I mean, they're pulling Sandman out before the Lizard? Thats crazy. The character is already in place as well, Peter's College Prof.

But maybe, maybe. Raimi would do a fan favor (again), and have a short segment of Carnage. And then Spidey takes out the trash. Because I would really like to see Carnage in CG.

THE LIZARD
The Lizard should without a doubt be the next main villain. Maybe feature Kraven with parts of the story arc from 'Kraven's Last Hunt' thrown into the mix. Hunting Spider-Man or/and The Lizard, with Spidey doing battle with The Lizard and trying to protect him and himself from Kraven. Perhaps Electro as a small minor one time fight villain.

I'd bridge that with KAW's Kraven idea. Written well, the transitions would be seamless.
