Wait, What? "Point Break 2"? And Another "Tomb Raider"?

From the "sequels we're not dying for" department, we get a few tidbits regarding the possibility of A) "Tomb Raider 3" and B) "Point Break 2." (Really?)

Screenwriter W. Peter Iliff, who wrote the first "Point Break," is said to be moving forward on a sequel with production company RGM Films. Apparently Keanu Reeves' character will not be involved, but the one played by Patrick Swayze will be. (No word yet on if Swayze is signed on.)

Mr. Iliff (who also wrote "Patriot Games" and "Varsity Blues") will be making his directorial debut on the project, which will take place in Asia and center on an ex-surfer who joins the Navy in order to track down some Asian bad guys. Sounds like an all-around bad idea to me.

Speaking of bad ideas, someone on the video game side of the "Tomb Raider" series really wants to get another sequel out of Paramount. (Yes, still.) "At this moment in time it's still not green-lit, but the signs are there ... They're willing to put a scriptwriter on board. Angelina Jolie has an option to do a third movie," is what TR creator Ian Livingstone had to say -- although the operative words in that quote are "willing" and "option." Ian, get back to us when you have words like "signed contract" and "green-lit."

I love Point Break, and it would be a neat twist if Patrick Swayze's character had survived the giant wave from the end of the last one. If the follow up had the SAME actors/characters and some twist which meant Keanu's character discovered Patrick's was still alive - well - I guess there's a story in there somewhere.

...but with what's been revealed in this article though, it sounds more like a direct-to-video kinda deal.

Tomb Raider is awesome. Yeah, I can see why critics, who try to think too much into films, didn't like it. It was brainless action/adventure fun. Bring on the third.

There are bits that really do work quite well in the Tomb Raider films... BUT ultimately they feel quite rushed and the endings for both, are just terrible.

the only reason i would see point break 2 is out of sheer morbid curiousity... anyone who has seen hot fuzz will know the feeling. although if it somehow had keanu and swyaze together, it would probably be the greatest bad movie of all time, surpassing the original

Uh, bringing back Kate Beckinsale in a larger, actual speaking role, might make me interested enough to see Point Break 2: Tokyo Drift. Plus a scene with her kicking the asses of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers would make it better as well.

Matanuki .

LOL. "Tokyo Drift". Priceless. But screw Point Break! Tomb Raider is a more threatening turkey since it's predecessors haunt recent memory. But why shoot for a trilogy when the odds against it being good are so damn high? The first was sloppy and the second was a boring mess.

tombraider is garbage, and after the second one tanked, not sure why this one is going forward.

I like Point Break, but it's a movie that doesn't really need a sequel. It was really just mindless fun.

They should strip down Tomb Raider. No no, I mean in terms of production, not attempt to make it a big summer blockbuster type, but rather a cheap fun movie. Very campy but completely aware of it, and poking fun at it self. Get rid of Angela Jolie, and get a really trashy choice, like Krista Allen. See that way, probably just as many people would watch, and it would cost a lot less. Might even be entertaining if we're lucky.

Just a correction: Ian Livingstone is one of Eidos' founders, not the creator of Tomb Raider.

TOMB RAIDER needs to be RE-MADE!!!
I could go several other tomb raider movies if they Remade them and didnt do sequels to them.

The first two were shyt in a can!

If they totally re invented tomb raider as say, 3 or six new movies that actually felt like the GAMES they are based on, and with say Denise Richards as Lara Croft. They could be awsome!

Imagine Batman and Batman returns, If Shumacher got there first! Would we even want a batman begins?

Good job burton got there first so we knew there was something worthy in the beginning.

Tomb Raider simply need the Batman Begins treatment. I dont mean dark gritty and realistic, i mean the opposite. They should be more Indiana Jones in flavour and, well, Feel like the Games!
