ILM Joins the "Iron Man" Team

In an effort to bring you absolutely every single piece of available "Iron Man" news, there's this: ILM was just hired to do all the fancy effects work.

Industrial Light & Magic will provide most of the FX, Skywalker Sound will provide the aural magic, and a virtual all-star team of artists and technicians are just about to get rolling on Jon Favreau's Marvel Comics adaptation.

The team will include John Nelson (Oscar winner for "Gladiator"), Hal Hickel (Oscar winner for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest"), Ben Snow ("Attack of the Clones"), and four-time Oscar winning sound designer Chris Boyes ("Lord of the Rings: Return of the King"). Plus they've already got "practical FX" maestro Stan Winston working on that nifty suit.

That's a damn fine collection of behind the scenes craftsmen, I'm sure that this is going to be one hell of a fine Iron Man movie.

Behind the scenes and in front of the camera too, Wiseguy. This film is looking better and better. My prediction is that Incredible Hulk, Dark Knight, and Iron Man will be the premier comic book movies, at least until (if) Spiderman and Superman get their acts together.

They already have David Koepp writing Spiderman 4, so I'm sure it'll be more impressive than Spiderman 3. I wouldn't worry about that. I am personally really looking forward to Iron Man, Hulk 2 or whatever, and The Dark Knight

Iron Man should be a good flick. I like Favreau as a director. The cast seems solid. Now with this visual/sound effects crew, this could be one hell of a bar setter. I just don't think that Iron Man has the appeal that Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, or X-Men do. If they keep the budget modest, it should turn a good profit. I hope it does well, this could be a great franchise.

I'm getting worried. Is Iron Man hiring a ton of talent to cover the fact that the script might be weak? I mean, Spidey 3 looked great from every angle until it was all put together. Iron Man, for all intents and purposes, has never been any more popular than Daredevil, and look how that movie turned out.

I'm just saying that the pieces of the Iron Man puzzle look incredible, but the finished picture might not be up to par. I don't want to get my hopes up like I did with so many other superhero movies.
