It comes as no big surprise to readers of the C.S. Lewis book series, but the official plot of the first "Narnia" sequel will involve all four Pevensie kids, a prince named Caspian, magical talking creatures and royal intrigue.

Disney and Walden Media issued the first official "Prince Caspian" synopsis today, which follows its source novel pretty closely:

"One year after the incredible events of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1300 years have passed in Narnian time. During their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct, Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy.

The four children will soon meet an intriguing new character: Narnia's rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him in order to place his own newborn son on the throne. With the help of the kindly dwarf, a courageous talking mouse named Reepicheep, a badger named Trufflehunter and a Black Dwarf, Nikabrik, the Narnians, led by the mighty knights Peter and Caspian, embark on a remarkable journey to find Aslan, rescue Narnia from Miraz's tyrannical hold, and restore magic and glory to the land."

What's worth noting about this sequel to the mega hit that co-starred Tilda Swinton, James McAvoy, Jim Broadbent and the voices of Rupert Everett, Michael Madsen, Liam Neeson and more, is that this time around, the supporting cast is decidedly lower on star power. With the exception of returners Neeson and the four main actors (William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley), the next biggest (no pun intended) players on board are Peter Dinklage and Warwick Davis (playing dwarves Trumpkin and Nikabrik, respectively).

Major new roles will be filled by Italian actor Sergio Castellito (as King Miraz) and Brit thesp Ben Barnes, who will also appear in this year's "Stardust."

"Prince Caspian" is currently filming and is set for a May 2008 release.

I got half way to being excited by L,W&W, when it came out, hoping for a close foll up to Lord of the rings.

What a load of shit! I cant believe it was a rival for King Kong!

Liam neesons voice was pale in comparison to James Earl Jones lion king voice. Bad casting! Bad SFX, and Aslan was hardly in it, and when he was he mostly talked. The aslan death scene on the table was emotionless and didnt leave you caring. I remember the same scene in the 70s animated film, and that scene was very emotional and powerfull.

In fact, i cant believe im wasting my time discussing it. But il end by saying, Prince caspian, who cares????

I personally liked it during my first viewing. After that it was just the oppoite. Horrible sets, dull acting, and a mediocre script ruined it for me.

Yeah, I'm kinda curious as to just how long this is going to take. I was really surprised by the first movie, but if you ask me, it was Georgie Henley who stole the show as Lucy.

I thought the first was below average not terrible just below average. But honestly why is it taking so long for this movie to get going. That is probably a sign of a crappy movie.

This will be amazing. The Lion , the Witch,and the Wardrobe was such a faithful adaptation of the book and was actually better than the book in many respects and this new film will be tremendous.

the book is more than plot, its great narration, and long living ideals. Its challenging about your decisions. The true magic of these books is a richer thicker after taste than say harry potter and that magic is increased with the seven as a whole, for some reason the last battle makes the whole seem brighter.

The movie was fine, I also loved its aftertaste for days more than the movie, even when i saw its last half on tv again...

The Narnia films are meant to be family entertainment, not as dark as Lord of the Rings. If you are expecting LOTR, than you are already going to be disappointed. However, for a family film, it was pretty good, I went to see it twice in theatres (w/o taking any kids). I expect the sequel to be more of the same, which will be fine IMO.

Also, trash the movie as much as you like, but be careful trashing the book. It is a classic, undisputably a remarkable piece of fiction, and if you don't particularly like it, it is more personal taste than poor writing.

Since I hated C.S. Lewis and his crappy Narnia books, I have no inclination to see this film. That series was nothing more than an extension of his illogical Christian apologetics, anyway.

He's not even a good writer. He uses all sorts of cheap plot devices (like the numerous convenient appearances of Aslan during any deperate situation) to convey his opinions on Jesus and his hatred of unbelievers. Other than the Narnia series, none of his writings ever achieved any sort of critical or commercial success, mainly because they were awful. Remember The Screwtape Letters? *gag*

Only die-hard Protestants like his books, and I'm really disappointed that The Passion of the Christ for Kids did so well at the box office.
