"I Am Legend" Trailer ... and "I, Robot 2"?
![]() on Jun 10 2007 11:13 AM Wait and see. I, Robot was good but I'm at least open to a sequal surprize. It all depend on the script. If that's good the film will be good. If the text is poor, even the greatest film makers in the world can't make the "magic" happen. Remember Batman Begins? There was a sequal that was much, much better that ALL the Batman films that went before. As for I Am Legend, again...wait and see. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 12:09 PM I robot was underrated, it wasn't that bad. I quite enjoyed it and I think it has a lot of room for new ideas, I'm open to a sequel. I loved the robot character sonny. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 12:26 PM In reply to this comment (#868640) Plus Charlton Heston isn't a black man and I personally don't think he could pull off any of Will Smiths wide variety of catchphrases. Though I'd pay to see him try...To Pharoah "Hear and obey...Ahhhh....hell...NO!!!!" (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 12:26 PM don't mess this up I don't think Will Smith is a good choice for this. If you guys have read the book, did you honest picture Neville looking someone like Will Smith? Also, Neville never made wisecracks or was humorous in the book. We know how Will Smith acts. Not to knock on Will Smith, I've liked him in most of his roles. There is definitely a niche for his style; however, I just don't think it's best served here. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 01:23 PM In reply to this comment (#868632) Who said I paid to see any of these movies? Sorry, but I don't subscribe to the "if everyone likes it, it must be great!" axiom. that's cool though, go right ahead in do that. That body length wool sweater looks great on you. And Will Smith's wife thanks you. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 03:20 PM In reply to this comment (#868643) Actually I think it should be called I Robot 2: I (heart symbol) Robot. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 03:48 PM In order for me to not hate this movie I have to remember that the book and movie, from the trailer, seem...not completely, but very different. The message from the book is key and the last few pages are dynamite. I am not a fan of Will Smith's "Hell, naw!" action stuff either but when he does his more dramatic roles he's pretty good. Maybe he could pull him together. As long as the message remains, I'm game. "I, Robot 2: I <3 Destroy" with that cute blue robot. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 11 2007 06:23 AM In reply to this comment (#868648) Yes because you are obviously massively self-obsessed. Don't watch his movies and let the rest of us blissfully go on with our day to day lives. You act like Will has wronged you or something....wait a minute, Carlton is that you!?! (Reply to this) |

on Jun 11 2007 06:32 AM In reply to this comment (#868651) Best.... idiot.... on a tv show.... ever (I'm Talking about Carlton, not you bigbrother, you're cool) (Reply to this) |

on Jun 11 2007 09:01 AM Does anyone know when the trailer is going to come out ? Any predictions ? I thought the trailer would come out a couple months after the teaser. Can't wait (Reply to this) |

on Jun 11 2007 12:05 PM God this looks stupid. But it's based on a boring, overrated book about a depressed alcoholic. So what can you expect. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 11 2007 12:38 PM In reply to this comment (#868654) I thought it was a great book.... (Reply to this) |

on Jun 12 2007 12:07 AM In reply to this comment (#868607) ditto! actually I Robot looks like an expanded version of the "Second Renaissance" from the animatrix. plus, there's already a sequel to I Robot, it's just called Terminator 3. :P then The Matrix comes after that. :P (Reply to this) |

on Jun 12 2007 04:19 AM In reply to this comment (#868654) I'd probably be a depressed alcoholic too if I were the last man alive. Wait a minute. Sometimes I DO think I'm the last man alive. I'm just dreaming all you guys. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 12 2007 11:50 AM In reply to this comment (#868659) Author of the book I know the author of I Am Legend, but earlier in the thread someone was talking about a book called Tonight, He Comes. Anyone know the author? (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 12 2007 07:58 PM I'ROBOT was on FX the other night and I was reminded how cool this film was. I'ROBOT 2 is an excellent idea. I will defenitely go see I AM LEGEND. All Smith's sci-fi action films are good. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 13 2007 12:55 PM In reply to this comment (#868614) dont we love to idealize the past? really, it's so easy to idealize the past.... In 10 or 15 years we are gonna be like "remember when commercial movies had interesting characters (x men, bourne, shrek, pixar, new bruce wayne, jack sparrow even if i dont like him, neo, umma thurman in kill bill) and well developed stories (the movies from the characters just mentioned)? Remember when, after the 80s and early 90s, producers started to give way more opportunities to independent filmmakers ?and more freedom to filmmaker when they were to do the big studio commercial films (sam reimi, christoper nolan, peter jackson, bryan singer)? Remember when animated films were fresh and original with Pixar? Remember when more and more good full filmmakers were writing, directing and producing and were still allowed to be in hollywood (coen brothers, alexander payne, paul thomas anderson, anthony minghella, kevin smith, quentin tarantino, gus van sant)? Remeber when even the younger and/or newer actors often outshone the older big names (matt damon, leonardo dicarprio, joseph gordon levitt, mark wahlberg, johnny depp, heath ledger, naomi watts, benicio del toro, jake gyllenhaall, maggie gyllenhaal, maybe shia leboef) Come on, there has always been idealization of the past, especially when it comes to hollywood and pop culture. Seriously though, I dont want to go back to the days when a few oportunist producers gathered exotic dancers to make them divas and make a business with the new growing movie industry, nor to the days when what we called big summer action flicks were the same revenge story with steven segal, or arnold shwarzenneger, or sylvester stallone, or van damme, or chuck norris, or many others; nor to when disney did the same family movie over and over again (even if given that they barely exist today, we remember them as precious, again through idealization); nor to when there were many rush hours a year, but with even less quality; nor to when making a comic book adaptation, or tv cartoon adaptation, or tv show adaptation, was forcibly very cheap and bad, except for batman and maybe, to many, superman (which i cant stand). (Reply to this) |

on Jun 13 2007 01:06 PM also, its not that i defend hollywood so much, I just react quickly against idealization or generalizations like that... I actually find it sad hollywood wants to do yet another sequel, and for a movie like I robot.. Im amazed to see the positive response for this sequel, but I guess this means they probably should do it... I myself dont care about watching even the first one, less so the second one, but I guess I cant say anything about the franchise if i havent seen but a few uninteresting scenes. I still dont thnk I'd watch it, but I could watch I am legend. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 14 2007 08:15 AM wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! I, Robot sequel!?!? Let me guess how the pitch was for the move, "Ok, remember the last movie, where these people built all of these robots and then the robots turned and attacked them? Well, these people are SOOOO stupid that they didn't learn anything and started building even MORE intelligent and evil robots!" (Reply to this) |
