on Jun 09 2007 12:41 AM Looks promising. My roomate let me read the graphic novel, and it read just like a movie. Hopefully this movie stays relatively faithful to the graphic novel. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 06:00 AM SAW THE PREVIEW AT HOSTEL II I cannot believe I didn't know that they were making 30 Days of Night into a movie! I have to whole series of graphic novels and they all kick ass and the movie looks just as good! (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 06:56 AM Again with the vampire movies? (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 08:13 AM In reply to this comment (#868744) Seconded. What makes this one so particularly good compared to all the other vampires movies that came before it? (Reply to this) |
|
on Jun 09 2007 08:55 AM In reply to this comment (#868745) Because this one is actually good. It's an original premiss that makes even the vampires have character. Overall, it was a solid read with few complaints. The only person on the cast I'm skeptical about is Melissa George. She doesn't strike me as Stella, especially if they decide to make the sequel "Dark Days" into a film, as she will be the lead character. She's not a bad actress, but not particularily good either. on Jun 09 2007 08:56 AM The book wasn't all that great, but the movie looks promising. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 09 2007 08:57 AM What makes this one so particularly good compared Well it has a kick ass poster! Seriously, dealing with vampires in Alaska with 30 days and nights of straight darkness without sun. That is an awesome premise. The premise alone makes it better than most vampire movies. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 09:13 AM In reply to this comment (#868749) I'll admit the premise of vampires being smart enough to look for prey in an area with extended night time is original, but don't the days last longer up there too? They'd have to sleep/fast for a longer period as well. I'm just tired of the same vampire-human conflicts. Bloody vampires snarling at humans, and humans wielding shotguns and sharp objects... its just turning so generic now. I'm not bashing 30 Nights, I just hope it doesn't offer more of the same boring vampire movie action. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 09 2007 10:05 AM Does anyone know the song that plays in the last 1/3 of the trailer? (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 10:32 AM In reply to this comment (#868751) ... umm.. its a song By Muse... Apocalypse Please~Muse... (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 10:46 AM Long periods of dark in the arctic occur during winter in the norther hemisphere when the sun is so far to the south of the equator that it never even rises. During the summer this trend is reversed, with the sun being so far north of the equator that it is light for days at a time. Corresponding night/day cycles occur in the antarctic as well. Now, I haven't read the graphic novels so I don't know if this is wrong or even addressed, but if the vampires adapted to hibernate during the summer then I guess that'd be advantageous to them. And what would you prefer, some absurd Anne Rice lycantyhropes going about their androgynous business dressed in ridiculous Victorian clothing and pattering on and on about a masquerade while seducing boys and girls and painting or playing keytar in some sort of Velvet Underground knock off band? I'm personally glad that the beast was returned to the world of bloodsuckers. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 10:48 AM looks no where near the style of the comics. if it was animated, it would have been a much better way to capture the look of the books. maybe all comic book movies should have been animated (not cg animated). (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 10:53 AM In reply to this comment (#868742) I was born and raised in Anchorage so I know a little history. The US bought Alaska for $7 million. And in Barrow (the Northern most city) the sun can't be seen for about 2 months in the winter. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 11:12 AM I like vampire movies, when they are good. Too many vampire movies are just blood and guts, like all horror movies are now. No style. The last truly good vampire movie was "Interview with the Vampire." Occassionally a decent one comes along, like "Midnight Mass," but generally vampire movies have gone the way of the Western and musicals. A comeback is in order I think. Vampires have always been more interesting than werewolves, and deserve better stories to sink their teeth into. Maybe this one will do the trick. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 01:55 PM In reply to this comment (#868741) Best Alaska Movie since Fire Down Below Seriously, This Movie Looks great Its great that there is a movie that can make alaska look badass.....To bad its pretty boring here (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 09 2007 03:29 PM Looks like a damn fine vampire film for a change! Kinda reminds me of what 28 weeks later did for the zombie film. In general vampire films are boring to me, as are zombie flicks. Thank god for someone getting zombies to run! So simple. The vamps in this trailer look less like people with fangs and wrinkly foreheads. Very interesting, although i hope it doesnt just become too much running and screaming in the dark, yawn! Oh, and there had better not be one single scene where they think they kill a vampire then sit next to it while the weapon is lying on the floor next to it. Cringeworthy! Dont you just hate that in horror films? Hills have eyes anyone? And Wolf creek? and almost all other horrors do it. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 09 2007 03:45 PM In reply to this comment (#868749) What are you talking about, kfarschman? The poster isn't THAT great. It looks just like the one from 28 Weeks Later! On a side note, the trailer was pretty scary, the premise is interesting, and I've heard great things about the graphic novel...so I'll give this one a shot. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 09 2007 04:52 PM What's the song near the end of the trailer? (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2007 06:07 PM First off, I haven't read the graphic novel---but that's probably the freshest concept for a vampire movie in 20 years. Talk about a frightening premise. However, this trailer really doesn't make the movie look that scary. It looks like a wasted opportunity to me. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 01:52 AM In reply to this comment (#868750) Ummmm, Border patrol can't stop a bunch of kids from smuggling fireworks across the border. What makes us think they could stop a group of bloodthirsty vampires moving south for the Summer? Maybe this time of year is like Carnivale for them and they return to their hum-drum existence back in New Orleans during the Summer months. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 10 2007 05:42 AM The only real vampire experience I thoroughly enjoyed was actually a game called Vampires The Masquerade: Bloodlines. That was the game that got me into the vampires genre to begin with; like Interview with the Vampire, Underworld and Dracula. So far, nothing has immersed me as much as Bloodlines have. If 30 Nights is anything like that, they've sold me. Does anybody else share my love for VTM:BL here? I wish they'd give us another sequel or an MMO. That universe needs to be tapped into again (pun intended). (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 10 2007 05:59 AM Hard Candy was solid. I'm looking forward to this one. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jun 10 2007 06:30 AM It looked promising up until it had the "From Producer Sam Raimi", where I wasn't only worried, but everything just didn't look that good to me. I love the Spider-Man movies, but his recent horror stuff has been crap (Anyone else think The Grudge blew chunks?) (Reply to this) |
|
on Jun 10 2007 08:19 AM In reply to this comment (#868767) Lets not turn Sam into the new George Lucas again. Sure Spidey 3 wasn't everything it could have been and the Grudge series may heve been car crash theater, but I'm willing to give the guy who gave us Spiderman 1&2, The Frighteners and most importantly Ash the benefit of the doubt for a while still. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jun 10 2007 09:35 AM In reply to this comment (#868768) Well, the fact that he directed Spider-Man 3 didn't worry me (I loved it), but you're right. The Evil Dead and Spider-Man movies are great. Just one question; didn't Peter Jackson direct The Frighteners? (Reply to this) |
|
on Jun 10 2007 11:46 AM In reply to this comment (#868769) You're right, I got my small time horror directors made good mixed up. Good call. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 11 2007 09:20 AM Hard Candy was good, so hopefully that's a sign (Reply to this) |
|
on Jun 11 2007 10:52 AM Can't wait. I thought the direction in Hard Candy was excellent so I can't wait to see what the director does here. the trailer looks good and Alaska does look like a badass scary setting! (Reply to this) |

on Jun 11 2007 12:30 PM In reply to this comment (#868777) Preach on my brother, Fright Night is the shit. Whatever happened to that guy? The world needs the wisdom of Hermans Head now more than ever. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jun 14 2007 12:19 PM I'm so excited about this... That's all. I can't wait. The trailer for this looks much freakier than I Am Legend. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 04 2007 03:13 PM In reply to this comment (#868742) Pres. Andrew Johnson's secretary of state, William Seward, negotiated its purchase for $7.2 million, or about two cents per acre. thanks (Reply to this) |

on Oct 17 2007 08:54 AM I read the graphic novel, and the best part of it isn't that its so original that the vampires thought of this, its what happens after they get there. If you like vampires in any facet, read the first graphic novel at least, its well worth the 15 bucks they are charging for it. Without giving away too much, lets just say things don't go as planned for the humans or vampires, and no I don't mean they change the 30 days of it being night either. If they keep it fairly close to the graphic novel, and there is no real reason for them not to, it was only about 5 comics worth, it will be amazing. (Reply to this) |
