Trailer Bulletin: Craig & Kidman in "The Invasion"
There's been a lot of talk about the Nicole Kidman / Daniel Craig sci-fi flick "The Invasion," most of it ... not good. But here's our first peek at a trailer...
It's been well-documented that "The Invasion" was essentially taken away from director Oliver Hirschbiegel and then handed over to the "V for Vendetta" team of Wachowski, McTeigue, and Wachowski. And then came a whole bunch of test screening reports that weren't all that ... nice.
Well now you can check out some footage for yourself. Here's the trailer.
I'd say the trailer probably gives a little to much away, but it looks like a half-decent little sci-fi flick ... although I doubt it'll garner many favorable comparisons to either of the classic "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" movies. (I prefer the '78 version.) But if "The Invasion" is at least as good as "Body Snatchers," that'd be just fine.

"The Invasion," which stars Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Jeremy Northam, and Jeffrey Wright, opens on August 17th.

Mr. Kong writes: on Jun 11 2007 02:54 PM Looks pretty nice, even if it did show a little too much. Is it just me, or did the scene where the space shuttle crashed look a lot like the scene in Superman Returns where Superman stops the shuttle from crashing? (Reply to this) |

Metafact writes: on Jun 11 2007 05:53 PM Dammit, why do studios always have to ruin potentially great movies? I'll bet $100 that Oliver Hirschbiegel's version was awesome but the studio execs were too stupid to realize it. Let's just face it, these pricks just don't know how to make a movie. knowingtoast85 writes: on Jun 12 2007 02:50 AM Color me uninformed, but I had absolutely no idea this was a remake of "Body Snatchers" until I watched the trailer. That makes this, what, the fourth or fifth time? I wonder what is the most remade film of all time, not including adaptations like "Hamlet"? It could very well be "Body Snatchers." (Reply to this) |

jackkovack writes: on Jun 12 2007 03:06 PM I think the reason it's been made so many times is because it's a great story that has appealled to every generation. This story could be made a hundred years from now and it could still be good. A story where you can't trust anyone and I mean anyone. Mankind is under extinction and theres very smart determined clones left behind to disproove anything you say and anything anybody else is saying. The story would still be alot creepier in the 70's because of the lack of communications. That's the key. In the 70's version the mission to get the word out was gone once they controlled the phones. With the story taking place now you can't escape communication. Anybody can get the word out on cellphones and the web, especially youtube. And no organization or group would be able to control that. So the tension and despair of the 70's version wouldn't be there. (Reply to this) |
