J. Michael Straczynski has some skill with episodic TV scripting. I'm not sure how this talent will translate to the big screen. I've always liked his stuff so it sounds encouraging.

Since Marvel already knows that ROTSS is gonna be a blockbuster masterpeice, they ALREADY wanna work on a cash-in........see, a sign of desperation is doing things in the wrong order. Wait for the movie to be released, watch the money pour in, and THEN work on another project......but the Silver Surfer IS cooler than any of the Fantastic Four COMBINED so I would go see a movie about him....

I hope they keep doing this with the FF, introduce a much more interesting character in a FF film and then spin that character off, meanwhile the FF just continue to seem like a bunch of worhtless dorks who don't even get to be the stars of their own films. that would be great.
Next up Namor can kick their asses!

I'd say when evaluating how good the FF movies are, one must keep in mind what it COULD have been. Three words, my friends : Batman and Robin. Lets be fair, afterall.

They should've come out with a Silver Surfer movie and THEN come out with ROTSS. Silver Surfer is to cool a character to recieve just a "spin-off" treatment. Didn't he have his own comics?

SS did have his own comic, but it wasn't quite as popular as other Marvel comics. Which isn't to say he doesn't have a fan following. Even if FF 2 sucks, I would definitely go see SS in his own movie, especially if it doesn't have a lot of ties to FF2. Hopefully this production staff will know what the Hell they are doing!

Let's not diss Fantastic Four 2 until we see the movie. The first one was pretty good, passive fans liked it; its just the hardcore ones (who post about this stuff), that had problems with Dr. Doom's portrayal. I'm sure DD will appear in a more familiar guise in this episode, so relax fanbase.

Well up next, reportedly, is Black Panther. Bring on the African Batman! I'm all for Fantastic Four being a sacrificial lamb to host the intro of far more interesting characters. So yep, Black Panther, Namor, good deal. Let the kids enjoy the campy foursome, give us adults spin offs of the others.

Trolling would be more effective if you have some wit or ome point to make. Don't quit your day job.

I am a nerd but difinetly not a virgin! My opinion about comic movies is just as valid if not more valid than anyone else.

Would a Christian's opinion of a movie about Jesus be worthless?

Why would a person who read the book/comic that a movie is based on not be important?

Maybe some can't view the movie and source material as different entities but most people realize this, and distance themselves a little from their love of the book/comic.

Why wouldn't a fan be a person who's opinion counts, if they know the subject matter inside and out? Especially an objective fan that can accept reasonable changes to a story if the film/story as a whole is not god-awful.

Comic books are a ligitimate art form, and many people view them as a modern mythology. As a scholar of mythology and literature, who is not a pretentious prick, (particularly in terms of what I consider art/literature) I have a little more authority than some moron placing stupid comments on the internet.

I appreciate the backup! I have some nerdy qualities but I post here to keep me sane while I work (and because I love movies). I find that this site is a little too much about comic books, and not enough about movies...but then again, that's where the industry is. However, I find most of you to be civil (such as yourself) so I don't mind talking with you guys.

Heres the problem, there are losers like you and that fool i was talking about that think that because the movie is not exactly like the way they think it should be then it sucks and that anyone who likes it is wrong. Now i had problems with some of the movies Marvel made but i am far from dissapointed. If i was to be mad i would be mad at DC for destroying Superman and for not making a solid Superman Movie EVER. Also the overuse of Batman, who is a very weak character. The biggest problem being the fact that Hal Jordan the only solid DC character has yet to get a movie. A Green Lantern movie would be awesome.

Good, you've decided to be civil about this (despite calling me a fool, which is better than "virgin nerd"). My disappointment with Marvel is not because I think these movies should be done a certain way. Far from it. There are many things in comic books that don't transfer to the screen, much like when adapting a good novel. My problem is with the sheer volume of movies they're attempting to shove down the public's throat without really seeming to care about quality.

And I think it's funny that you call me a nerd when you clearly read more comic books than I ever have in my life. You sure make quick judgements about people. I'm 24, I have my own apartment and I have a full time job with benefits. I post here to help get through the grind of the work day and because I am pursuing film making in my spare time. Does that sound like some "little virgin nerd" to you? To me it sounds like a working professional with ambition.

I respect your opinion on the quality of the movies. Did I ever attack people who like Marvel movies? No, I was simply stating my opinion and because I was curious to see if others share my opinion (hence the "raise your hand" portion of my message). It sounds to me like you're the one that needs to be taught how to respect a person's opinions.

OK, I let your irrationally obsessive Superman hate slide, but I have to draw the line when you drag in Batman. Batman is one of the most archetypal characters of the 20th Century. He is at the same time amazingly complex yet manages to speak to something primal in most of us. As to your Green Lantern comment which one are you talking about. For my money Hal Jordan is the only Green Lantern who is even in Batmans ballpark. Once you they got past the ultimate weakness being the color yellow that is. That was just silly.

Why'd you write that? Oh no, God Forbid that somebody has a different opinion than yours!

I agree about the Hal Jordan thing. That whole arc where he turned out to be the ultimate evil blew my mind, but Batman has all sorts of issues too. His parents death, the whole Janus complex balancing being a billionaire playboy and a masked vigilante, his relationships with his crew (Nightwing, Catwoman, batgirl, all the Robins etc, The unanswerable question of what came first the Batman or the Freaks. I can see where you're coming from in that he IS simple from the point of view that many people can easily understand his motivations and wish we could do the things he does and would make a lot of the same decisions if we were freed from the burden of fear and consequences, but like I said before Batman is an archetypal character ala Sherlock Holmes, or Captain Hook. He's not just A vigilante, he's THE vigilante. The one which all others are judged by. Oh and I kindof like the John Stewart Green Lantern from the cartoon series too although he is a bit too straight laced and grumpy to compare with Hal, he has his moments.

I want to see the Silver Surfer movie as a rom-com, where he gets rejected by most of Marvel's superheroines, save one: Squirrel Girl. Will Ferrell can play Galactus as a giant man in a purple bathrobe, consoling his "herald." David Cole can play Hal Jordan, willing him to work on weekends and holidays.

I enjoyed the FF2 film. silver sufer was cool and if they go at the spin off as more of a sci fi film it could be cool. I don't really think we need to see anymore of the surfer fighting the military or anything like that...I guess you could bring in a super powerful earth hero to battle him but otherwise I think you stick with the surfer out in the galaxy dealing with Galactus (who can't be dead...if they claim he is then I will call sheinanigans).

oh and haven't we already gone through all these arguments about who's opinions matter?

Do you even know anything about silver surfer or read any comics? If you did, you might see why his own film would be great. (so certainly shouldn't talk about stuff you know nothing about it that is the case)

Silver surfer's was not developed as a character in FF2, so he definitely should have a chance for his own film.

If there are Blade films, Daredevil, Catwoman, Elektra, and numerous other comic films than silver surfer should have a film. If done well it woud be part of the solution and not the problem of an abudence of low quality comic book films.

Just because Daredevil, Catwoman and Elektra had films doesn't mean they should have! Your missing my point, a majority of the Superhero films are total crap. The only ones that really succeed are the most popular, such as Spider-man, X-Men, Batman and Superman. While the Surfer may be worthy he's not a highly popular character. If they did the film right I would have no complaints, but what usually happens with these more cult comic heros is they totally get screwed and we end up with a very mediocre to horrible film. And frankly a fan of Nightwing would think him having his own film would be great, still doesn't mean it should be done!
