Summary

Pop quiz, hotshot: which of the lesser Roberts do you prefer? Because this Friday, it's a match between Eric Roberts (playing the bad guy in "DOA: Dead or Alive") and Emma Roberts (title star of "Nancy Drew"). Also, there's some arty movie about people in spandex ("Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," starring Ioan Gruffudd and Jessica Alba). What do the critics have to say about them? Nice language Iamfool! People are ripping this apart because the first one was garbage and apparently this looks to be also. We can have an opinion. Galactus should not be some Close Encounters 1978 looking cloud. It's fine if there's a cloud with Galactus SHOWN inside but from what I've heard, he isn't visible. Pretty cheap. And who wants a PG rated superhero film? With all of the destruction and mayhem, it should strive for a PG-13. Still within the boundaries for children of a certain age and intense enough for adults.

Well, im seeing FF4.2 tommorrow because itll be free for me. But i wouldnt pay to see it, Sure silver surfer looks cool and the action might be good, but I hate what theyv done with Ben the (THING). He is just a crappy looking rubber suit that is badly designed. The original Ninja turtles film looked better than him. If theyd have gone the cgi route like the Hulk it would have been waay better.

By the way, ive just seen the new BAT-SUIT over on ign message boards. WOW!! I think, some will love it some will hate it. So far im somewhere in the middle.

How come RT doesnt have it on here yet?

I saw an early screening of it, and it was fun. Yeah, the plot is a little light, but there are some good action sequences in it. I liked it more than the X Men films.

DOA has been out for almost a year in other parts of the world... I thought it was fun and good to have on in the background whilst doing other activities... like drinking.

It has some great fight sequences, and considering one involves the two hottest girls fighting in the rain, what more can i want of a movie like this?!?! Again, watching it drunk with some mates is fantastic - most fun I've had in a long time!

they want FF to be more of a kid friendly film, hence the pg rating. its a little surprising but realistically, what is being held back? "you lose you ma f3ckin' cupcake!" i don't think so. more $...for a decent comic book series, big deal. c'mon, its not the best of action flix but its not as bad as Catwoman or DareDevil or christ...Ghost Rider. if you don't like it, don't see it. i'm guessing it'll make at least 30.

DOA. wow. if it makes 5 million...i'd be shocked. shoulda been straight to DVD. even the actors have said that.

btw, you CANNOT take older movies and comment about the rating system back then. i've seen movies with NUDITY...that were pg.

Like ANYONE thought that DOA the movie was going to be any good, that FF2 was going to be a blockbuster masterpeice, or that Nancy Drew was going to be the best movie of the whole darn year! Oh wait, thats not possible because then that movie would have to beat out FF2 and DOA......:P

I for one am totally sold on the new suit. Folks on the FF forum however are expressing concern. It's not without some merit considering the looming memory of the Schumacher curse. But me thinks that by now it's reasonably safe to trust Nolan, and this new suit looks pretty damn cool.

DOA has been out for sometime now, I watched the movie and deleted it instantly, it was horrible... Just goes to show how inconsistent critics are and why you shouldn't bother going by what they say... DOA better than FF2? As Gob would say, "Come on!"

So I just got back from the Theater where I watched FF2 and I have to say that I thought it was really good. Like most people I found the first one a little "Eh," but this one was very well done. The one thing that I liked about the first one was the display of the team's disfuntional behavior, AKA the pranks and gags. For the second film those qualities are still there but there is more of a serious tone. Johnny Storm has little power problem which is humorous, but at the same time leads to a lot of self-doubt and pondering about his own future as everyone around him seems to be growing up. (This film actually is more about him and the Silver Surfer which is cool beacuse they are by far the coolest characters.)

The only thing I really found a hokey was the theme the Sue Storm so unelequantly quotes, "We always have a choice," when speaking to the Silver Surfer.

My only other grip is the length of the film and the damage it does to the plot, and the Surfer's development. First, 90 minutes is far too short for this kind of film. Two hours is better, and could have been used to better indroduce the new character. I am not really one to think that less is more, but when it comes to plot I like a good story (I don't mind Lord of the Rings or the last Pirates being long). If any of you have seen the recently released extended cut of the First FF film it is alot better then the original version.

Let me end by say I know a lot of you are very skeptical of this new film for reasons like the first one not being that good or that Galactus is a gian cloud. But let me say the film is good and it nicely sets up a Silver Surfer Spin-off, and Galactus being a cloud is better visually then its sounds; You'll have to trust me. Also if you look really closely when he shows up you will see what looks like his crown and face, from the comics version, and what appears to be machinary underneath.

Sorry for the review on hear but I think someone should give this film a chance, because I think if it does well enough and they decide to make another one it could be epic.

I know your tired of hearing from me, but there is one other thing I forgot to mention. Soem of you were angry that FF2 was rated-PG but let me tell you it is not tame. In fact only reson the first one probably wasn't PG was the scene when Doom puts a hole in some dudes chest. He does something simailar inthis one. SO RELAX!

EXAMPLE: Not to sound prejudice, but Batman and Robin had plastic molded nipples, and will be remembered as the gayest Superhero movie ever.

I don't know why I got to this website really. I hate the scale. Fantastic 4 is getting a lot of so-so reviews, not full out terrible ones. I feel like 29 percent makes it look worse. And then they say Nancy Drew is "without a clue" when nit is only 4 percent away from fresh. Would they be saying that it was a great movie if it just go a few more good reviews. I guess the meter is one issue, but their love of hyperbole is a bigger one.

DOA was just so ridiculously over-the-top and corny that its a lot of fun. They don't take themselves seriously for a second. The characters even have health meters when they fight. And besides, when was it ever bad to see hot girls go at it? Holly Valance's first scene is probably the sexiest action sequence in a long time.

I like the scale. FF2 basicly got a 5/10 which men it's blah. I think the 29 as meaning there is only a twenty-nine % chance of me liking this movie. 30% is pretty good because if only 30% of americans see the movie at the theaters once: that would be a domestic gross of at least 540 million

Watching FF2 was very enjoyable and fun. And for those worried about Galactis...the way they chose to make him looks pretty damn awesome and epic on screen and works well for the movie. Give this a chance as a nice short summer blockbuster with good speacial effects and a nice theme.

I just got back from FF2 and I'll tell you straight out: It was a lot of fun. It kept the audience constantly in a good mood with good jokes and stretched its PG rating to the limit. It got rough at times.

Who cares what the critics have to say? The audience walked out of the theater in a really good mood from a darn good movie.

Did it have problems? Yes. But I'm not going to mention them. I'm sure someone else will.

Someone must have been paying attention to our conversation a while back about how the old suits and their non-pliable necks screwed up the fight sceens. This gives me high hopes we'll actually see a Batman who can fight without looking like Frankenstein for the first time.
