Travolta On the Fence About "Wild Hogs 2"
by Fred Topel | June 26, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

Everyone was shocked when "Wild Hogs" became one of the biggest hits of all four stars' careers. It made so much money that it seems like they'd have to make "Wild Hogs 2," but John Travolta may be the hold out. Back to Article

Dang! I was really hoping they'd continue to develop the story arch of this masterpiece.

Even I, one of the few that liked Wild Hogs, don't think a sequel should be made.

We can put it alongside other "classic" sequels like "The Whole Ten Yards", "Basic Instinct 2", and "Baby Geniuses 2". :P

How could you forget the wonderfully magnificent "Batman and Robin"? For shame!

With a worldwide box office of over 247 million dollars, it will get made, with or without Travolta. Ben Stiller would be a decent replacement. Jerry Stiller could become their mentor and leader of the group.

Isn't Jerry Stiller dead? If he is that could be an interesting Weekend at Bernie's-esque comedic device.

What about a spin-off psuedo- sequel called Mild Dogs about a roughneck biker gang that decides to go all "suburban" and live a white-collar life with hillarious fish out of water results! I'm kidding of course, but watch, one of those studio guys will read this and you'll see it in two years time.

Yeah no Wild Hogs 2. Face it, folks in the movie business, Spider-Man, Pirates, and Shrek are a different kind of a movie than Wild Hogs. Not all movies can keep raking in money with each addition to the series it turns out. Heck, look at this week's flop, Evan Almighty. Just because a lot of people went to see the original, doesn't mean people will come to see the sequel. Some movies can manage it, but only if they're pretty big movies in the first place, which Wild Hogs wasn't. Sure it made a lot of money, but it's hardly a household name like Spider-Man and Shrek.

Jerry Stiller should never have had kids. He is sooooo much funnier and more talented than his son. Ben's only good in an ensemble, such as The Royal Tennenbaums or Meet the Parents (yes, I call it an ensemble because nobody else can be the star when DeNiro is in a movie).

To quote Family Guy: "His movies are terrible"

And regarding the original topic of this thread: NO!

I say remake wild hogs over and over again and leave John Travolta as the only cast member not replaced. Have a sequel where the newest member is a supposedly average girl played by Linsay Lohan with a pink motorcycle. The pink motorcycle could be the bastard son of Herbie and a raging alchoholic who calls lindsay a whore and abuses Travolta on a regular basis through its drunken rage, but in the end its just a pink motorcycle with a good heart.

Have a futuristic wild hogs where a John Travolta robot is sent back in time to fight another robot to save the life of Tim Allen's dead career, transferred into a motorcycle by a voodoo priest. Have a sequel where a motorcycle buys a private island filled with plot holes where it hunts the most dangerous game of all, John Travolta. Don't make a sequel to this film, please, think of the children, John Travolta's children.

Travolta decided he prefers wearing dresses after filming "Hairspray" and is now awaiting offers from studios for "portly women" roles or just men who like to look "pretty." Then again that could be a good twist for "Wild Hogs 2"--all the guys become "gals"....all you aspiring screenwriters can thank me later for the idea!

Would "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" be a "classic" sequel too? Just wondering:)

If Travolta doesn't return, have the guy from SNL that impersonates Peter O'Toole play Peter O'Toole in Travolta's place. I would see that.

Ugh. And to think that THIS is the movie that caused moviegoers to avoid "Zodiac" which, IMHO, is the best movie of the year so far.

I got it, by the way...for a "classic" sequel:

BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE 2.

Now THERE was a flick.

I've heard good things about Zodiac, but it doesn't seem like a movie that would make a whole lot of money.
