Crowe & Di Caprio to Team up for Ridley Scott's "Body of Lies"

Bigbrother writes: on Jun 29 2007 08:05 AM In reply to this comment (#871790) Dicaprio and Bale and a few of the other young guns got talent no question there, but for me he's got a little ways to go before he reaches Crowe or Depp level where I know I'm going to enjoy the film just because they're in it. Not saying they can't get there, but I'd like to see a few more films under their belt. (Reply to this) |

Ashron writes: on Jun 29 2007 11:44 AM In reply to this comment (#871792) I don't know, I think I actually prefer either of those two to Crowe. DiCaprio really showed his chops in Blood Diamond and Bale just rocks in anything (although I haven't seen Harsh Times) Not to mention Bale is much hotter looking that Crowe. :-) (Reply to this) |

thetruebastard writes: on Jun 29 2007 11:56 AM Crowe's performances in L.A. Confidential and The Insider destroy anything Leo has ever done, despite the fact that Leo is getting better. (Reply to this) |

Bigbrother writes: on Jun 29 2007 12:47 PM In reply to this comment (#871795) I think DiCaprio and especially Bale still have that flavor of the month feel about them. I put Depp and Crowe above them because they've shown that they can deliver performances in just about anything every time they go out. Though I guess you could convince me on DiCaprio based on performances in The Departed, Blood Diamond and Gang of NY. Probably deceptive because he's still so young and young looking. Bale still has a ways to go for me. Sure he rocked in Begins and the commitment shown in The Machinist was impressive, but The Prestige? Honestly who didn't realize that was Christian Bale in make-up? questionable, very questionable. For me Bowie as Tesla stole the show in that movie. (Reply to this) |

thetruebastard writes: on Jun 29 2007 01:07 PM In reply to this comment (#871799) Crowe would get a lot closer to being a believable Howard Hughes than Leo trying to be a tough, take-no-shit cop or a white-haired paranoid intellectual. Also, don't forget Bale's masterful and unique performance in American Psycho. I think his dedication to his roles puts him above Leo. I've never seen anyone lose as much weight as he did for The Machinist. He's like a modern Robert De Niro or Marlon Brando. (Reply to this) |

Metafact writes: on Jun 29 2007 03:30 PM Every director loves working with certain actors. There's: Tim Burton and Johnny Depp Spike Lee and Denzel Washington The Coen Brothers and John Turturro Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio...and Robert DeNiro before him. Sofia Coppola and Kirsten Dunst Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney Pedro Almodóvar and Penélope Cruz So Ridley Scott having a preference for Russel Crowe seems natural in Hollywood. randal1013 writes: on Jun 29 2007 08:46 PM In reply to this comment (#871800) bale is flavor of the month? he's born talent. go watch empire of the sun. it came out in 1987 when bale was a 13 year old child actor. then watch all the little animals, then american psycho. bale is already a veteran actor at 33. dicaprio is rather young looking, but he showed some serious skill in the departed. Bigbrother writes: on Jun 30 2007 01:23 AM In reply to this comment (#871805) Don't get me wrong not questioning Bale's talent. Just saying how much buzz was there around him before Batman Begins? Before that movie if you'd compared him to Crowe or Depp or even Dicaprio you would have probably been laughed at and people would have said "The guy from Reign of Fire seriously?".. I'd just like to see him perform at this level for a few more films before I elevate him in my estimation to the next level. I actually think he'll get there, but I don't want to fall into that fan-boy trap of screaming Christian Bale should be in everything right now based on his performance in BB. (Reply to this) |

Bigbrother writes: on Jun 30 2007 01:25 AM Sorry hit the botton before I was finished...and then have him come out and do some Hugh Jackman-esque rolls where he plays a timetraveling Frenchman or totally masacre's Van Helsing and totally ruin my Bale-buzz. (Reply to this) |

Mikead writes: on Aug 10 2007 03:40 PM Crowe is the best actor in films barring none. His resume says it all....Romper Stomper, LA Confidential, The Insider, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind (should have won)! Look at the variation. Skin head, hot headed cop, older whistle blower, gladiator, schizod. WOW! (Reply to this) |

hennia writes: on Aug 23 2007 07:23 AM My two favorite more recent performances are Crowe in "A Beautiful Mind" and DiCaprio in "The Departed." Political thriller sounds sort of like these two movies brought together, so I couldn't be happier. (Reply to this) |

calcutarain writes: on Jun 18 2008 01:11 PM In reply to this comment (#871792) If you say that ,it means you haven't seen all his movies.Dicaprio is one of the greatest actors ever.Everyone who worked with him confirms that.Even deniro was amazed by his acting when he was only 16.I suggest everyone go and see all his movies. You'll be amazed. It's just the academy trying to create the view that dicaprio now really started to act,so they can justify that he still got no oscar.
