Crowe & Di Caprio to Team up for Ridley Scott's "Body of Lies"

Man, Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe must really like working together...

First they did "Gladiator" together, and then "A Good Year." Later this year comes "American Gangster" and eventually we'll get "Nottingham," too. If that's not enough Ridley Scott / Russell Crowe collaborations for you, get ready to enjoy "Body of Lies," a political thriller that'll bring Crowe and Leonardo Di Caprio together for the first time since ... "The Quick and the Dead"!

Based on the book by Donald Ignatius and adapted by Oscar-winner William Monahan, "Body of Lies" will be about a pair of CIA agents who frame a terrorist leader by planting false rumors about his connection to American agencies. And yes, the term 'Al Qaeda' is being used in the plot synopsis.

Production of "Body of Lies" gets underway in October.

Dicaprio and Bale and a few of the other young guns got talent no question there, but for me he's got a little ways to go before he reaches Crowe or Depp level where I know I'm going to enjoy the film just because they're in it. Not saying they can't get there, but I'd like to see a few more films under their belt.

I don't know, I think I actually prefer either of those two to Crowe. DiCaprio really showed his chops in Blood Diamond and Bale just rocks in anything (although I haven't seen Harsh Times)

Not to mention Bale is much hotter looking that Crowe. :-)

I think DiCaprio and especially Bale still have that flavor of the month feel about them. I put Depp and Crowe above them because they've shown that they can deliver performances in just about anything every time they go out. Though I guess you could convince me on DiCaprio based on performances in The Departed, Blood Diamond and Gang of NY. Probably deceptive because he's still so young and young looking. Bale still has a ways to go for me. Sure he rocked in Begins and the commitment shown in The Machinist was impressive, but The Prestige? Honestly who didn't realize that was Christian Bale in make-up? questionable, very questionable. For me Bowie as Tesla stole the show in that movie.

Crowe would get a lot closer to being a believable Howard Hughes than Leo trying to be a tough, take-no-shit cop or a white-haired paranoid intellectual.

Also, don't forget Bale's masterful and unique performance in American Psycho. I think his dedication to his roles puts him above Leo. I've never seen anyone lose as much weight as he did for The Machinist. He's like a modern Robert De Niro or Marlon Brando.

bale is flavor of the month? he's born talent. go watch empire of the sun. it came out in 1987 when bale was a 13 year old child actor. then watch all the little animals, then american psycho. bale is already a veteran actor at 33.

dicaprio is rather young looking, but he showed some serious skill in the departed.

Don't get me wrong not questioning Bale's talent. Just saying how much buzz was there around him before Batman Begins? Before that movie if you'd compared him to Crowe or Depp or even Dicaprio you would have probably been laughed at and people would have said "The guy from Reign of Fire seriously?".. I'd just like to see him perform at this level for a few more films before I elevate him in my estimation to the next level. I actually think he'll get there, but I don't want to fall into that fan-boy trap of screaming Christian Bale should be in everything right now based on his performance in BB.

He's got that Vietnam movie coming up, we'll see if he's got the chops. He was very good in Harsh Times as well, although the movie was kind of iffy.
