Mr. Jackson will be playing a character (well) known as Nick Fury, but who will Ms. Swank get to play? The MTV Movies Blog speculates that either A) she'll have something to do with the Fury character, or B) she'll be setting up her own superhero franchise by making a brief appearance in Iron Man.
And of course Jon Favreau's action adventure already has Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, and Jeff Bridges on board. This may very well be the finest-pedigreed superhero movie ever made. But what's cool about the next wave of Marvel movies ... the heroes can intermix! No more worries about Sony this and Universal that.
Marvel producer Avi Arad also offers a tiny tidbit of Spider-Man 4 semi-news, but Spidey's on the back burner for now. These days it's all Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. (Next summer!)

on Jul 24 2007 09:11 AM Hilary Swank has been dissapointing in her last few movies. Maybe she's looking for something that might throw her some good reviews, she probably wants at least one movie with a fresh score, she hasn't had one since million dollar baby. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2007 10:10 AM Iron Man is great and all, but it's only my #3 superhero flick i'm most excited for next summer, behind The Dark Knight and, despite its lack of star power, Watchmen. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2007 10:24 AM in the article it said she might be establishing her own superhero movie franchise. since there have been rumors of a black widow movie, maybe Marvel is getting her introduced in this movie. just an idea, but it will be interesting to see what role she ends up playing. on Jul 24 2007 10:34 AM Well if she has something to do w/ Fury, then she could be playing Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Fury's "Bond girl-like" love interest and fellow agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jul 24 2007 10:42 AM Slightly a bit off-topic here, but... How the heck did the Iron Man movie get so big? I mean, ol' Tin-Tights has always been just a so-so, number 2, "You've got the night-shift, big-guy" kind of comic-book character. I tried to get into the Iron Man comic book series once, and it was so boring I stopped buying them after 4 issues. How can Marvel and, well, all these first class directors, producers and actors be pumping out all this money, time and effort into such a (forgive me, Marvel) STUPID comic book character? He's not going to go anywhere, like the X-men or Spiderman did. Iron Man is no bigger than Daredevil, really. What's the deal? I certainly hope that they put as much effort into Captain America, but it doesn't look like they will, and that's a shame. Now THAT guy deserves a little creative effort. I'm flabergasted. Whatever that means. Sigh. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2007 01:07 PM In reply to this comment (#968713) I've never been into Iron Man either, but I haven't really given him a shot yet, so if they make a good movie, I'm all for it. I agree that Captain America needs to be huge. He's a great hero and I think that they could do alot for the country with him. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2007 02:48 PM i think the actors in tinseltown have seen how big spider man and x-men got so any chance they get they want there name to be attached to a comic book franchise..........hell even fantasic four did decent at the box office and i havent even watch either........ i think all these big names being put in the same phrase as Iron Man, will alone cause a huge buzz for this movie............i mean i want to see it now........they won me over........ on Jul 24 2007 07:04 PM In reply to this comment (#968713) I believe the Iron Man film will make much more than Fantastic Four 2's poor showing. I think having some big name actors will definitely help. Most people will go just to see the actors, not necessarily Iron Man. (Reply to this) |
