Recent Potter 6 Cast Announcements Were Wrong?
So who's playing Mrs. Malfoy already?
by Scott Weinberg | July 26, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Yesterday we shared a report that both Naomi Watts and Joseph Fiennes would be appearing in the sixth Harry Potter film. Not so fast, says some folks.

According to the MTV Movies Blog, representatives for Naomi Watts, Joseph Fiennes, and Stuart Townsend have denied the reports completely. Apparently it all came from one erroneous source -- or (more likely) the actors' reps and producers are just trying to keep the contracts and castings under wraps for now.

We don't even know which characters Fiennes and Townsend would have been playing, but it's been buzzed for a while that Ms. Watts would be playing the unpleasant Narcissa Malfoy. So if she ends up getting the role in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we know someone's been pulling our leg.

Who the heck would Townsend be playing? I could see Fiennes in a couple of roles, but am a little stumped on Townsend...unless he plays one of the Weasley Bros. That actually just occurred to me. He could probably play Bill Weasley.

Maybe just a Death Eater^

Could be the same for Fiennes, they've pretty much casted all the main characters and I don't remember any new ones being introduced in Half-Blood Prince.

If Joseph Fiennes would play anything it would be the younger version of his brothers character aka Tom Marvolo Riddle.

I dunno, but Townsend looks like he would make a great Riddle. Think Dorian Gray from LOEG. Handsome, collected, charming, evil. So Fiennes could be a Deatheater, or Bill as somebody suggested.

And no new characters introduced? What about Slughorn? Granted, neither of those actors could be Slughorn since they are, you know, young and thin.

Joseph is Fenrir Greyback.

Stuart is Tom, however, they have the technology to make Ralph young. And I'm not sure Tom Riddle is in the 6th book. Second choice, Ron :)

Oooh, Naomi would be almost perfect and she has done brilliant performances before (Mulholland Drive, anyone?) so I'd surely vote for her (for any role actually...=) )

I think Riddle is in the sixth book. **Spoiler if you haven't read half-blood prince** Remember he comes back to Hogwarts to ask Dumbledore for a job. He was fluctuating between Riddle and Voldemort at that time. As for new characters in 6 you've got Slughorn, Greyback, Scrimgeour(New Minister of Magic) and we haven't seen Bill and Charlie Weasley or Phineas Nigellus yet.

There's a lot of Voldemort, well, Tom Riddle in the 6th book. I wonder how they're going to handle all those, in essence, flashback scenes.

If Watts was going to be in this, they should just list her in the credits as "Naomi Watts' 2-front Teeth".
No, in all honesty, I%u2019m glad that she isn't in the pic (as of yet). I think that she would make a terrible Narcissa.

Oh, and yes, there is in fact quite a bit of Tom Riddle in book six- at various ages ranging from childhood to adulthood. I wouldn't be surprised if they cast four different Riddles in this one (depending on how much they cut out or change completely). I also hope that they bring back Dobby because if they just keep replacing everything plot essential that Dobby does with Nevile doing it (ex. the gilly weed in #4 and finding the room of requirement in #5) then movie 7 is going to run into some seriously big plot holes.

I think Joseph could play Riddle's father. I think that would be amazing. Small part, but a great casting choice. I think it would be a horrible idea for him to be Greyback. he's way too young. *spoiler alert* Greyback bit Lupin when he was a child. He's got to be at LEAST around Lupin's age.

There is a LOT of Riddle in Book 6. I won't get into detail, but various versions of Voldermort are mentioned throughout the book.

I can't wait for this movie. I think book 6 is my favorite.

And there are a few new characters to cast:
Slughorn
Scrimgouer
Merope and her family
Tom Riddle Sr.
young Tom Riddle

I know I'm forgetting some.

hmmm i've had a look on some websites and it only mentions the main charaters like hp-dan radcliffe, rw- rupert grint, only 5 or 6 mentioned i think it's too early yet for people to know who is going to be in the 6 movie but i can't wait for this one, the 6 book is one of my fav. i just hope they get some new people who asn't acted yet like they did with Katie Leung (Cho) but if Townsend was in this he'd be perfect for Bill he's exactly as i'd imagine :)
