Chris Tucker To Film Stand-Up Comedy Flick; Also Running for President
A busy slate for the notoriously choosy actor...

Chris Tucker is notorious for picking his roles deliberately -- the man hasn't made a movie in nine years that wasn't Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2 or Rush Hour 3 -- but he's all ready to announce two upcoming projects: a long-gestating comedy where he'll play the Commander in Chief of the U.S.A. and a stand-up film in the vein of Eddie Murphy's Raw.

Tucker told Rotten Tomatoes about the films on a recent press tour to promote RH3. "I'm gonna do this movie called Mr. President," he said. "I've been working on [it] the last few years. I'll play the first African American President. It's a comedy and it's gonna be a fun movie. Something I've always wanted to do."

Tucker will also return to his roots in stand-up, which he continues to perform around the country. "I started doing stand-up before I got into the movies. I did about 20 cities to sharpen up before I did this movie, [to] get my timing back. I'm getting ready to do a world tour."

He also draws some lofty comparisons to a few other classic live comedy films you might remember. "I'll do 15 cities in the United States and I'm going to film it like a stand-up comedy film like Richard Pryor's Live in Concert or Eddie Murphy's Raw," he added.

In the meantime, the man whose other career highlights playing Smokey in Friday and Ruby Rhod in The Fifth Element will be back in Rush Hour 3, out August 10.

What a lazy, greedy and self-important idiot.
Listening to Tucker as president would be even more painful than Dubya, and that's really saying something.
I hope he disappears and doesn't return until Rush Hour 4 in 2011.

Well yeah, all he did was smoke and get himself into trouble. He was a natural for the part.

Loved him in The 5th Element though.

That Black president movie has been around for a while, I guess it's finally getting off of the ground. It's not like head of state, which is specificaly about the campaign trail, it's about him in office.

Sounds like fun though

I like Chris Tucker, would like to see him in more roles though. Thought Money Talks was pretty funny, and the rush hour movies arent bad. So Im kind of looking forward to this president and stand up one.

I like tucker too, but like hammerleafsfan, i would also like to see him do a bit more. people call him selfish and whatnot, but hey, they DID pay him, which i guess in a way does make him worth it. if you can get it, why not take it? anyway, i can't wait to see rush hour 3 and to see how his next couple movies turn out. they can really make or break his career.

He's a better and funnier actor then chris rock or dave chappelle, but no way is he a better comedian. I've seen some standups of chris, not bad, but it wasn't that special. Chris rock and dave are legend with standups, on another level.

Don't you people put ear plugs in your ears when you hear him?

I know I do...

An african american comedian running for president? Wow! What an original idea! I bet Chris Rock is wish he thought of that first!

I don't know Tucker's standup, but I do know this: tucker plays about 1000 times better on screen than Rock. Rock can't act. and his movies are terrible. Just... really awful. Not that Tucker is Brando or anything, but he's just way more organic on screen. I'll be there opening weekend for Rush Hour 3.

As for this president idea, I actually thought Tucker pulled out of a while ago, and Chris Rock picked it up... or maybe Tucker held off.

i actually like the Rush Hour movies so i'm kinda pumped for that. just not that many funny movies out nowadays. i MIIIIGHT catch his standup flick as long as its not the same thing every black comedian seems to resort to. white people do this...black guys, this...white women ain't like black woman cuuuz...and then they move onto mexicans. its old, its been done to death and it hasn't been funny since the 90's. HUGE pet peeve of mine and anytime a comedian does the same joke he OBVIOUSLY heard 10 years ago...its stupid. its why chris rock stopped being funny years ago, its the same material...just in a more angry tone. i liked his early stuff but...c'mon bra, get somethin' NEW.

the president thing i thought was already done a few times. didn't rock do one? i KNOW robin williams did, and i think there was one other comedian who did it. again, as long as its fresh and crisp...it'll be funny. if he does the OBVIOUS stereotypes...eh, not so much

hey Mjolson20, I read somewhere in the time magazine that both him and Chris Rock where in the process of making movies with the same concept. The first black president.
I guess tucker had to wait for sometimes before releasing and his film plus for him, he wanted to shoot in the air force one and was actually meeting with Clinton to prepare for the role.
