Justin Timberlake Joins Forces With The Love Guru

After a five year absence, Mike Myers returns to live-action comedy as The Love Guru, his first original creation since Austin Powers. Justin Timberlake has just been announced as part as cast, along with previously confirmed Jessica Alba, Romany Malco and Verne Troyer.

In the The Love Guru, Mike Myers plays Pitka, an American left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. He moves back to the U.S. as a man, seeking fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality. According to Paramount Pictures:

"[Pitka] must settle a rift between Toronto Maple Leafs star hockey player Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) and his estranged wife. After the split, Roanoke's wife starts dating L.A. Kings star Jacques Grande (Justin Timberlake) out of revenge, sending her husband into a major professional skid -- to the horror of the teams' owner Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba) and Coach Cherkov (Verne Troyer). Pitka must return the couple to marital nirvana and get Roanoke back on his game so the team can break the 40-year-old 'Bullard Curse' and win the Stanley Cup."

Marco Schnabel -- second unit director for Meet the Parents, Fockers, and Goldmember -- is directing The Love Guru when shooting begins in September in Toronto, from a screenplay written by Myers and Graham Gordy. The Love Guru will hit theaters June 20, 2008.

justin did a fantastic job in "alpha dog". i have no qualms about him as an actor. should be interesting with mike meyers to say the least.

Cool.. I'm surprised anyone in Hollywood would greenlight a movie set in Canada about hockey but I guess Mikey has made them enough money to make this homage to his home town.

At least the Leafs will win the cup in the movies!
