![]() on Sep 12 2007 05:20 AM Stewart's a decent choice, but why aren't they choosing someone new? (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 12 2007 05:28 AM Because the world is run by The Man, dear Crushin' Russian. Because the world is run by The Man. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 06:51 AM the shouold get colbert (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 06:59 AM He wasn't so good last time. Either that or the audience of stars didn't laugh too much at his jokes. Either way, the room felt kind of dead whenever he talked. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 07:20 AM I don't quite understand Ebert's comment that Stewart was the equivalent of Johnny Carson in terms of hosting ability: he did seem constipated, like he would rather be anywhere else. Yeah, I expect Colbert (and "John Oliver") is going to have a field day with this. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 08:14 AM I actually really liked Jon Stewart. I'm glad they're bringing him back instead of Billy Crystal for the 9th friggin' time. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 08:52 AM Isn't Jon Stewart more politically independent? (in that he makes fun of the right and the left?) Maybe I'm getting him confused with someone else. But that could be why the room was dead. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 09:54 AM This is great news. I think Stewart deserves another shot at the Oscars again. Having one under his belt, hopefully he'll be better this time. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 10:06 AM The Hollywood people were upset because Stewart was making fun of them, with Tom Cruise Scientology jokes and such. I think it's great. I hope he cuts them up some more. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 12 2007 10:41 AM A funny person hosting the Oscars? Surely not! (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 12 2007 11:02 AM i thought he was awesome the last time, those celebs were just pissy that night (thats you speilberg). so im happy, i did not like ellen (i like her but she didnt do so well). (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 11:32 AM Good news, I thought he did well the first time and I'm happy he's coming back. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 12:03 PM Oh witherwings, do you seriously not know who he is? Yeah, he didn't do so well last time, and neither did ellen. Has Leno ever gotten to host? I don't remember. Why not let him? I don't really like Leno, but hell. Give him a shot. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 12:56 PM Just throwing it out there... But if it was a new host, Chappelle or Sarah Silverman would shake things up. Otherwise, recycling Conan, Stewart, or Ellen for their second times around isn't that bad. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 01:05 PM I think they should get Lisa Lampanelli or Kathy Griffith. Talk about shaking things up. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 01:27 PM Do people still think he's funny? I thought that had past ages ago... (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 01:27 PM In reply to this comment (#1118513) *passed (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 01:29 PM In reply to this comment (#1118504) Just add Carlos Mencia in there and you've got the three worst comedians on Comedy Central. ...imo (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 01:32 PM In reply to this comment (#1118305) If anything, witherwings, you're thinking of Steven Colbert. Jon Stewart is easily the most liberal comedian on television, alongside Seth Macfarlane. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 01:36 PM I'd like to see Conan do it, he's nailed the Emmy's a couple times now (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 12 2007 02:19 PM Wow, I see a lot of "I want THIS person who frequents Comdedy Central" coming up here. Perhaps we could branch out a bit? What happened to having people from FILMS (Yes, I know John Stewart had a limited silver screen career, but hear me out) do the whole Academy Award dealy? Billy Crystal was an excellent host for years. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 02:38 PM In reply to this comment (#1118460) I know who he is, I was just wondering about his political leanings! Hey! Cut me a break... lol. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 02:39 PM In reply to this comment (#1118516) Thanks. Yeah. Stephen Colbert. Me (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 02:42 PM In reply to this comment (#1118516) I think Colbert is probably as liberal as Stewart, but hides it behind his Bill O'Reilly facade. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 03:25 PM In reply to this comment (#1118515) Colbert doesn't interact with Hollywood-type celebrities as much as Stewart does, which is probably why he wouldn't be as good of a fit for the show. Colbert's guests are usually in politics, or more often, book authors (on a wide range of subjects). Stewart alternates between those types and celebrities. I love Stewart, and think he's a great choice. I wouldn't have minded Conan either, though - both can be very funny. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 12 2007 03:29 PM I would hope that even though Stewart is hosting, that Colbert would make an appearance. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 03:29 PM AWESOME, he was hilarious last time he did it. Too bad Crash won that year. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 12 2007 03:34 PM again? ha. good deal. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 04:04 PM "For those of you keeping count: Martin Scorcesse - 0, Three Six Mafia - 1" Gold (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 04:32 PM I think the reason they wouldn't get Colbert to host is because he woulld have to be in character the whole time, and I think maybe it wouldn't work if they had the host using a persona. But I guess maybe it wouldn't be that bad, I don't really know. I think Jon Stewart was a good host and there are few people I think I would rather see host. "Capote showed that not all gay people are cowboys, some of them are effeminate New York intellectuals." Ha. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 05:26 PM I think Jon Stewart gets too much crap for his hosting; personally i thought he did a great job in '06 and I wish him the best next year. P.S. As much as I like Ellen, does anyone really remember anything special about her hosting last year? (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 09:25 PM This sounds like a case of, its going to be more fun talking about the Oscars that actually watching them. What Oscar worthy movies have actually been released so far? (Reply to this) |
on Sep 12 2007 10:15 PM In reply to this comment (#1118518) Agreed, I'd rather see Conan. Triumph should also be there too during the red carpet walk whatever it is called. That would be great. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 13 2007 12:35 AM Yeah The_Corrector! Conan would be a good choice! (Reply to this) |
on Sep 13 2007 03:23 AM Stewart or Conan, flip a coin, both are great choices, please no more Billy Crystal, where has he been recently anyways, it feels as if he has slipped of the edge of the world. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 13 2007 06:04 AM Why not Ellen again? (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 13 2007 09:26 PM In reply to this comment (#1118767) n_cruz69, what the hell are talking about? martin won his oscar last year and i have no idea what your zero means. perhaps it refers to the chances that three six mafia are ever heard from again as a significent music act. jeez, stop bringing that oscar up, the only reason they won their oscar was because their competition in best score was at an all time worse. trust me, i listen to their competition and a paris hilton song would have won that oscar over the ilk that was nominated. so, please no mention of an all time great director like mr. scorsce with your crappy music group that was simply lucky to have their sole moment with their "beautifully named" song, "its hard out there for a pimp". and boy is it hard out there for my comedic ear to listen to another bad oscar host, in jon stewart. hey it could be worse, we could have ellen, cris rock, whoopi "vick is a dog killer only because he's from the deep south" Goldberg! and yes, colbert would be a great idea. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 13 2007 10:01 PM In reply to this comment (#1121784) It was a joke Stewart did two years ago at the oscars and was applicable then. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 14 2007 01:13 AM In reply to this comment (#1121820) oh, why didn't he say so. well, then i get it, sorry ncruz but you should have stated it more clearly for goodness sake because as we all know.. a bad jon stewart joke can cause bad joke-itis, which is sadly uncurable unless taken immediately with the antidote. stephen colbert soup:) (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 14 2007 01:16 AM and no, i don't hate stewart but i definitely think hosting the oscars was not exactly his forte as proven by his one and only performance. but i do enjoy his regular show very much but do like colbert more. only wish he would get his chance and then they can give him the award that was rightfully his. because as we all know barry manillow stole!!!! i make the songs that piss off colbert nation!!! (Reply to this) |
on Sep 15 2007 02:35 PM In reply to this comment (#1119894) I think it's a little early for the Oscar movies to be coming out. They should be cranking up around late October. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 16 2007 10:01 PM You may have just had the three most annoying posts I have ever read. I would rather read more from that sploich idiot go on about how jon stewart and stephen colbert as anywhere near as terrible as carlos mencia. n_cruz69 mad it very clear what they ment in their statement. See, here in the english language we use these things called quotation marks when we choose to, stay with me here, quote people. just like n_cruz was QUOTING jon stewart. which they clearly backed up with "gold" (theres an example for you) which, unless im wrong and n_cruz69 just likes blurting out precious metals, was a comment on the quality of the joke. Past tense. Get it? So before you go an flame Jon Stewart like a 'tard and repeat stuff Colbert says because its funny when morons repeat it, actully remember what your talking about. Before you say Jon didn't do a good, make sure you actually WATCHED his preformance so, you know, you remember when people quote from it. Copper! (Reply to this) |
on Sep 16 2007 10:06 PM Up! I forgot the words "are" and "job" in there. couch tomatoe(?) dougie is gunna jump all over it with his razor sharp wit and completely useless double spacing... (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 17 2007 12:49 AM In reply to this comment (#1130034) Silverence, hey Don't be hatin on the double spacing. hey sue me, i just have gotten used to and hey i still think its a cool way to stand out on most threads. its not like i am wasting paper or anything. no waste on cyberspace! ha, to qoute master splinter "i just made a funny". and thanks for noticing the sharp wit, i always do my best to keep it from going dull. yep, "my wit" can cut through anything well except britney's midsection, thats way too thick for even my wit;) and her mind is even worse because its like trying to cut through air because there's nothing else up there. oh, wait i think i see a leftover cheeto and what appears to be whats left of her reading skills, which was not much to begin with. oh, silverance i am sorry if offended your buddy n_cruz but geez i apologized what more do you want, sheesh! (Reply to this) |
on Sep 17 2007 09:02 AM My vote would be for Kevin Smith to compere but there's not much chance of that happening (Reply to this) |
on Sep 17 2007 12:01 PM Danny Trejo should host this, I love his presence on movies, he´s a bad *** ;-D oh well if only it could happen, if not I guess I´m happy whoever hosts the show. (Reply to this) |
on Sep 17 2007 01:27 PM *cancels rotten tomatoes account" But seriously, aside from just ripping on idiots who use emoticons, I think that Stewart did a fine job last time and would do a better one this time. His writing was great last time but I think nerves affected his timing a little bit and that caused some of the dead air. That being said he was about 10 times as funny as Ellen. He just needs to relax a little, something that I think will come with it being his second outing. I don't think that people like Kevin Smith, as hysterical as he is, could necessarily pull it off because their kind of humor isn't based as much in sarcasm. His humor wouldn't translate as well to the venue. Personally I'm excited to finally have a reason to watch the Oscars again, aside from the last ten minutes. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Sep 17 2007 10:39 PM are u really canceling your rotten tomatoes account? if its because of me i repeat once again i am sorry that my posts have ruined you somehow. but, seriously i hope you don't cancel, never want to see anyone cancel themselves out of this great website because of me.
