Uwe Boll to Continue Campaign of Terror

That sound you hear? The anguished howl of millions of gamers. Uwe Boll has purchased the rights to yet another videogame adaptation.

Slashfilm -- reporting on an item from Arrow in the Head -- brings word that the director you love to hate has announced plans to bring Legend: Hand of God to the screen. The action RPG is still unreleased, but that hasn't dampened Boll's enthusiasm for the film version. From the article:

"I think Legend will be very successful because of its unique blend of high fantasy and dark atmosphere. The world of Legend contains major crossover potential and was already adapted as novel and audio book," says Boll from the set of Far Cry, which he currently works on in Vancouver with Til Schweiger, Ralf Möller and Udo Kier.

The article goes on to note that "Boll expects to shoot Legend with a $40 million budget in 2009," which is the saddest thing we've read all day.

no joke ioannadonna, i wanna know too! who in god's name thinks he can do ANY kind of movie thats REMOTELY entertaining? 40 mill, wow. he can't make movies but man...he has to be great on his knees to get some guy to fund him that money. i have to say, he's an amazing salesman to get somebody to give him that kinda cash considering his resume is so bad

Has anyone ever seen any of his movies or are we just going off reputation? I've never watched any, and trust me there is a reason for that, but his movies are probably more profitable than Darren Aronofsky's.

Yes, I have seen his movies, and they ARE that bad. Comparing them to filmmakers who make the movie because they want to bring quality film into the world like Darren Aronofsky doesn't really make much sense.

This is what I have heard. In Germany there is a tax loophole were if you fund a big budget movie and it happens to not do well you get a big tax break. I don't know if that is actually true, I heard they were correcting the law recently but maybe it is all a lie. I believe it though.

Boll is an evil genius who uses his hypnotic Devil-Eyes to seduce unknowing producers into giving him money to make movies that will drive innocent film-goers insane with their badness. Thise who aren't driven insane will be beaten to death in the boxing ring. It's all part of his elaborate super-villian scheme to take over the world...

If you look up Uwe Boll at Wikipedia, you'll find that there actually is an insane German tax law that allows a filmmaker to write off 100% of the film's budget, if the film flops. There are other intricacies to the law that are just mind-boggling. It's really one step away from money-laundering.

Yeah, but as soon as that law gets corrected (supposedly soon), he will cease to direct anything with a budget larger than bi-weekly paycheck. That's why he's cranking them out.

Although, the extended Postal trailer looks hilarious...I'm ashamed to say.

Yeah, one step worse. Money laundering is about mixing illicit funds with clean funds to erase the trail. This is simply the German government using its citizens' tax money to fund Boll's crimes against humanity. So not laundering. It's pretty much just theft.
