Zack Snyder Posts a New Batch of Watchmen Stills!
Feast your eyes on the cast in costume.
As of today, we're one year away from the debut of Zack Snyder's Watchmen -- and Snyder is celebrating right along with the rest of us.
In a post published today at the Watchmen site, Snyder explained that, "being a fan that follows production blogs," he understands that "the time a film is in post can often seem like an eternity, with interesting bits of information few and far between." In order to help you stave off your pre-release Watchmen boredom, then, the director has released shots of his cast in action. Observe:

So how about it, Watchmen fans? After seeing these stills, is your excitement for March 6, 2009 growing?

on Mar 07 2008 10:53 AM Miste Alchrighty!!! I'm just so unbelievably excited to see evidence that this unbelievably awsome story becoming a silver-screen reality that it will take at least a week to make any kind of rational judgement about these costumes. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 07 2008 10:56 AM First again! Ha! Shows what happens when we accidentally change the comment settings. But seriously. Watchmen: looks awesome! I can only really recognize Jeffrey Dean Morgan as The Comedian, but these character images look really cool - not too cheesy, though the costumes by nature are a little bit so, and nicely shot. I'm looking forward to seeing more from Snyder. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 07 2008 11:40 AM My god this looks amazing. I know the costumes look cheezy, but the book itself had its characters in cheezy costumes. (Except for Doc M and the new Night Owl.) In fact, a good basis of the book was on the memoirs of the original Night Owl reminising and criticizing the costumes, i.e. the cape. I wonder how far they are going to take this story and if they are going to do multiple spinoffs. The Comedian's and Rorschach's stories are themselves in-depth and could be movies all on their own. I just don't know if they will include the rape scene. All in all, I hope they really include Doc M's story. I have never experienced a more awe inspiring chapter in all of comics than "Watchmaker". That chapter blew my mind and actually brought me to tears. In my opinion, this is the chapter which elevated Watchmen to literary greatness. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 07 2008 12:21 PM In reply to this comment (#1619127) nope, not quite first. guess someone else posted while you were bragging about being first for the third time today. but speaking of changing comments settings, can you guys make it so words don't keep getting cut off in the middle with the second half of the word dropped to the next line? it takes away. ![]() on Mar 07 2008 12:25 PM check out archie behind nite owl. looks pretty faithful to the book, but i think ozymandius looks pretty batman forever too. and of course rorschach looks like a badass. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 07 2008 12:31 PM I think all of the costumes look great. They're all recognizable yet updated. I think Silk Spectre and Nite Owl's costumes would have looks silly if they were exactly like the book. Oh, and the Owl Ship looks awesome. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 07 2008 01:53 PM I have a question for fans, since they don't have any actual powers, is it basically a bunch of people in costumes shooting at each other? (Reply to this) |

on Mar 07 2008 01:55 PM In reply to this comment (#1619169) See, I kind of like that they look Batman forever, because the comic was all about exploring the ridiculousness of the costumed hero mythos in comics; this seems to me a good indication that Snyder is going to carry this over and make fun of how costumed heroes are portrayed in movies. And your right about Ozzy looking young, but I'm hoping thats just because he only wears that costume when he's young...I swear to God, if Snyder expects us to beleive he'd be wearing that while lounging around in his artic place at the end, I'll gut him myself. Sorry for stealing your first thunder, Jen. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 07 2008 06:05 PM It's nice to see how seriously the source material is being taken. Not just in the sense of authenticity, but also these characters actually believe and convey the belief that they are somewhat badass, at least in their glory days; which could have easily been overlooked due to the campy nature of their designs. Ozzy is fine, this is obviously the young version of himself. There was probably just no way to make the yellow/purple/whatever original robes work. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 07 2008 09:24 PM From the look of these pictures I can understand why Alan Moore has disavowed this film. Everyone but the Comedian is 15 to 20 years younger than they should be. Looks like another Hollywood butchery of Moore's work, on par with the mess that was V for Vendetta and The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. (Reply to this) |
