Chris Tucker, Brett Ratner Reteam for Sinatra
You don't scare me. I've got chunks of guys like you in my stool!

It looks like Chris Tucker fans won't have to wait until the inevitable Rush Hour 4 to see him back on the big screen.

Variety reported yesterday that Tucker has signed on to star in Brett Ratner's adaptation of Mr. S: My Life With Frank Sinatra, the 2003 memoir penned by Sinatra's valet, George Jacobs, with William Stadiem, who is also writing the screenplay. From the article:

Stadiem, a longtime chronicler of old Hollywood, has been tapped to write the screenplay, which weaves in celebrity anecdotes involving Marilyn Monroe, Peter Lawford, the Kennedys, Ava Gardner, Humphrey Bogart, Mia Farrow, Elvis Presley, Swifty Lazar and Marlene Dietrich, among others.

Brett Ratner directing what amounts to a Sinatra biopic? We can just hear the Chairman's fans howling now. And here's an extra quote from Stadiem, to pour some salt into the wounds:

"Brett is a Rat Pack obsessive, and so it's fun to work with someone so passionate about the period. I think he's channeling Frank sometimes."

The report doesn't mention a target release for Sinatra, but it does say Tucker is "currently prepping a standup comedy tour," so filming will presumably have to wait until that's finished.

I've got only 1 comment for this: '' Thank God Jackie Chan isn't in this crapfest''.

And yes, it's going to suck.

Ratner is a low level hack Hollywood director; everything he makes he's always quoted as bieng "obsessive about". Gimme a break. Watch this be an extended version of those old Murphy-Piscopo SNL sketches; featuring updated hiphop versions of Sinatra songs. If this guy is being propped for the next generation of great directors, god help us all. Hopefully, some of Ol'Blue Eyes mob connections are still alive and can put an end to this before it starts.

OH...MY...GOD. What have we done to deserve this. Brett Ratner may be the most un-imaginative, jerk- off director on the planet.
In different hands maybe, MAYBE (Big maybe) I could imagine it being slightly interesting. But this is going to suck on ice.

Yeah, and I am sure you guys talked all this **** after the first Rush Hour. You guys were probably saying "what a great director, and I LOVE Chris Tucker". Douche Bags!!!! Make up your freakin' minds!

You know, even if Tucker portrays Sammy Davis Jr. I'll be highly offended.

That man doesn't need to have his reputation tarnish by that hack.

What are parents gonna tell their kids when they ask, "Daddy, did Sammy Davis Jr. Always scream in a high intolerable voice that makes you want to take a spiked bat and club some baby seals?"

This is sad. If anything, a Sinatra biopic should be handled by the likes of Soderbergh, Scorcese or even Guy Ritchie. These three directors, at the very least, emulate Rat Pack coolness in their movies. It's sad enough Ratner's doing the Hefner biopic.

The first Rush Hour wasn't exactly the highlight of these guys' careers. The only time Chris Tucker was remotely tolerable was in Friday, and as stated before, Red Dragon wasn't that bad. Other than that, those two can crawl in a hole and die for all I care.

This seems like a very weird match. Bret Ratner and Chris Tucker doing a Sinatra movie? Ratner's movies have mostly sucked and Chris Tucker is funny but no great actor. This is just so strange to me...

Good to see Mr Tucker doing another serious role. For those that think he is playing the role of Sinatra, You need to read. He is playing the role from his limo driver's perspective. A black Frankie S? Get a clue!!
