X-Files 2 Celebrates Wrap with Deliberately Vague Press Conference
Chris Carter and Co. remain delightfully spoiler-free.
There aren't many movies that can justifiably celebrate the end of filming with a press conference, but X-Files 2 is one of them.
Thankfully for fans who've spent the last several years pining for more adventures from Agents Mulder and Scully, an X-Files 2 press conference is exactly what took place in Vancouver Wednesday. Those in attendance didn't get much in the way of spoilers, but writer/director Chris Carter, co-writer/producer Frank Spotnitz, and star David Duchovny did lift the franchise's ever-present veil of secrecy a little.
The major "revelation" of the day concerned stills of Duchovny and his co-star, Gillian Anderson, locking lips in what the National Post referred to as "a full-on kiss," fueling "breathless speculation about the characters' are-they-or-aren't-they romance." When asked about the shots, Duchovny was quick and to the point:
"We staged that."
The rest of the press conference was predictably thin on details regarding the sequel's storyline, but the filmmakers did toss fans a smallish bone; according to the Post, "the new story picks up with the main characters in real time, six years after the events of the series."
X-Files 2 is scheduled for a July 25 release.

on Mar 14 2008 08:19 AM Bring it on. I have no reason to believe the quality of the show won't go into the movie. They've had plenty of time to come up w/ a good story, and the stars are ready and raring to go. I am one excited X-Files fan, though I'm not sure I'm as excited as the initial post-er.
