Francis Ford Coppola's Headquarters Robbed, Script Stolen
Reward offered for missing data.
by Jeff Giles | September 28, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Francis Ford Coppola's Buenos Aires headquarters were the target of an armed robbery on Wednesday.

The robbery, which took place while Coppola was out of the office, left the thieves in possession of a camera and some computers -- computers which happened to store the script for Coppola's next production and its backup copy. According to a report posted by Variety yesterday, "a reward is being offered for the return of the script and 'a lot of the creative work' on the computer." From the article:

Coppola is preparing to shoot early next year the Argentine family saga "Tetro" with Matt Dillon toplining. Coppola, who also penned the screenplay, will produce through his American Zoetrope shingle.

Story revolves around an artistic immigrant family marred by fierce rivalries handed down through several generations.

Never mess with the Corleone's. Whoever stole it will soon regret it.

If 'Youth without Youth' sucks, maybe it's better for the his next script to stay lost, and call it quits.

I'm sure glad to hear that Mr. Coppola's first concern was for the safety of his four employees that were tied up and not his lousy script! Not once did he mention them! Hope he does get his script back though.....so he can make a movie that no one is gonna see anyway. I wouldnt be suprised that he staged this whole thing just so people would be interested in Tetro. Maybe nextime he should suck it up and pay his SAG dues...film in the USA!!!

It's a real shame that happened this to Coppola. I just hope he can get all his stuff back soon.

Things like this do happen. That is why people that do extensive work from their home PC's should consider utilizing an online backup software as opposed to a piece of media that is kept in the same room as the machine itself. You should consider a service such as eSureIT from Intronis Technologies (www.intronis.com). This service will allow you to backup all of your data and feel secure knowing that is backed up in 2 locations as well as encrypted when away from you.
With this service you can simply point and click when you need to get any data back.
