James Wong to Write, Direct Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie?
If loving Dragon Ball is Wong, then this rumor's right.
Last month, we discussed the news that Fox had fast-tracked its long-planned Dragon Ball live-action feature, and would be filming it in Montreal. Now, courtesy of CHUD, comes word that the production has found its director. And writer. (They're the same guy.)
According to a scooper named Tailgunner Joe, the studio has tapped James Wong (Final Destination, The One) to write and direct the Dragon Ball adaptation, and production is scheduled to begin in November.
Also included in the scoop? A casting breakdown. Hardcore DB fans, here's your chance to take an early look at what the studio might have up its sleeve for the film -- and how well it jibes (or doesn't) with the source material you know and love. Click away!

on Oct 03 2007 07:27 AM It may be bad, because James Wong came off of that disastrous remake of "Black Christmas". And the recent "Final Destination" film, despite the endearing presence of Mary Elizabeth Winstead, wasn't up to snuff. However, "DBZ" creator Akira Toriyama is slated to work on the script. So here's hoping that both parties can work together to make a crushingly entertaining "Dragon Ball" movie. Besides, Michael Bay came off strong after "Transformers", so why can't Wong? on Oct 03 2007 08:51 AM Thats Dragon Ball not Z. Z was a sequel which concentrated on the older adventures of the crew. The story here seems like its from Dragon Ball. (Reply to this) |

on Oct 03 2007 05:55 PM i sniff oscar.... that is if i had a dog named oscar and he took a poop. But really I wouldn't mind seeing this. I liked Mortal Kombat and Tomb Raider 2 after all although Transformers sucked (lol). The One was a stupid movie that should have been way better so here's hoping its not all action and they have a solid story but I doubt it. I like how he did some of the X Files (Reply to this) |
