Daniel Craig Shares Bond 22 Plot Hints, Locations

...And denies making a long-term commitment to the franchise.

It wouldn't be any kind of Bond movie if Bond 22 made it all the way to theaters without at least a little sniping between MGM and its star, would it?

Thankfully, we won't have to find out. IGN Movies reports that MGM's Harry Sloan may have spoken too soon when he recently told reporters that the studio had Daniel Craig locked up for four more Bond films. Says who? Says Daniel Craig, that's who.

According to a post at HisDarkMaterials, Craig has denied making that kind of commitment to the franchise. Speaking at a London press junket for The Golden Compass, the actor told reporters:

"I never said that...well, that's what's been said, it's not that it's not true, because I haven't signed up. What I've done is I've signed up on the next movie [Bond 22], after that we'll see. That's the way I'm doing it, and certainly it's not four more -- that's the truth. It's certainly not four more."

And speaking of Bond 22, Craig reaffirms Paul Haggis' earlier comments about the next film picking up right where Casino Royale left off, saying "elements of what happened in the last movie are going to be putting over into this one."

But wait, there's more! Craig says Bond 22 filming locations will include "Central America...Italy, maybe Australia. And Pinewood, obviously." When pressed for confirmation regarding rumors of Mathieu Amalric being cast as the film's bad guy, however, Craig played things closer to the vest, as did Amalric, who IGN quotes as telling JamesBond-fr.com "Ah, one will see...they will say it, but I cannot say. You know, cinema is complicated."

as great as craig is (take that pre-casino royale haters), i dont think anybody should be bond for more than 3 or 4 movies, because there is only so much one actor can do with the character.

just for fun, my next pick for bond would be christian bale. he is welsh after all.

well guys, bale-as-bond wouldnt happen for at least another what, 7 years at least? so by then, he wont be batman anymore and clive owen (also awesome) will be too old... bale will be around 37 i think, a perfect age for bond, although if he takes the john conner role as presently speculated, that would probably ruin any shot he has at bond.

and mr lapse in reason, bale can disappear into any role better than anyone except jonny depp, he's british, and he's has a bond body type and hair. i think since he never does any roles with british accents, and always does his interviews in american english, people would be pleasently surprised with him as bond.

but whatever, a new bond is at least 7 years away. alot can happen in that time. lets enjoy daniel craig for now.

CanNOT see Depp as Bond. I can't see him in character and I can't imagine Depp playing such a straight character-- not as in 'straight vs. gay' but as in I can't see Depp being interested in such a main-stream action hero.

Bale is one of my favorite actors since American Psycho, and while I CAN see him as Bond, I'm a little worried about him spreading too thin-- he's in freakin' Everything, these days. I'm really hoping the rumors about the Terminator thing aren't true. Just doesn't *fit* in my head.

Bale will never be Bond, he's too busy starring in 25 movies a year these days. I'd be happy with Craig as Bond for at least 5-7 more installments, he's the best there's ever been. Even better than Connery I'd say.

I'm of the opinion that Christian Bale is the cure for all franchise character problems. Bruce Wayne, James Bond, John Connor, Freddy Krueger, Peter Parker, Ash, Danny Ocean, Neo, The Man With No Name. Anything.

Daniel Craig is so far my fave bond, and i was one of the few that DID think he was a good choice before Casino. I agree that he should only be in about 4 or 5 Bond films before passing on the Torch, and i wouldve liked to see Clive Owen as Bond, but as someone already stated, he may be too old by then.

The great thing with Casino Royal is that is open for a sequel, wheras the other Bonds were their own films. But Royal leaves me inrigued on where theyre going next.

OH, And correct me if im wrong, but in Casino Rayal, was the guy with the gold jeep that Bond crashes his car into in the parking scene, Was that supposed to be a cameo of GOLDFINGER ??? Sure looked like him.

Did anybody else think Casion Royale wasn't really a Bond origin story?
I thought we were gonna see Bond in the SAS, get recruited, train and then get on his first mission. But they skipped all that and went straight to his first mission.

That's a big reason why i'm not a big Casino Royale/Daniel Criag fan.

I also watched Royale' thinking they were going to show him getting trained and what not, I guess the theory is that he already had the skills so they just gave him the job. Not real sure, I was thinking it would be a british spy movie meets the training aspect of that movie with Al Pacino and Colin Farrell.

To me it seemed like Craig didn't become Bond until the end. Royale didn't necessarily show him getting trained and what not but it did show him getting his double 0 status and a few other things. It wasn't until then that we hear the Bond music and he answers as "Bond, James Bond." I thought it was one of the best, if not the best, Bond movies.

I just think Paul Haggis (writer) and Martin Campbell (director) missed the boat on that.
Don't get me wrong, CR is a good movie, but it could've been so much more if they followed the Batman Begins origin formula and didn't leave the door open for a real Bond origin story to be made in the future.

Casino Royale could've been the definitve Bond beginning.

first, depp is not british. they would never give the bond role to a non british actor, no matter how awesome he is. people went ape **** over craig being blond, how do you think they will respond to a yank from kentucky being bond?

second, 5-7 movies with the same bond are way too many. how do you keep the audiences interest for 7 movies and the same bond? come on

third, a full blown bonds begins isnt really that great of an idea. like someone already mentioned, it would be like the recruit. i like what they did with CR. they showed him getting his 00 status, and hinted at his past with the convo with vesper. i havent read any of the books, so i dont know if they go into his past there (there are so many of them i assume they have to at least a little) but if you demystify bond too much, he loses some of his appeal, in my mind...

Anyone who continues to say Craig is the best Bond is seriously smoking something. I mean, I love him as an actor, and he did a fine job with what they gave him in CR, but.... CONNERY? MOORE? Even Brosnan was a fantastic choice for Bond. Just because Craig happened to be a a great Bond movie doesn't make him the best Bond.

Also... I don't get the man-love for Christian Bale. Blank Blank, apparently you haven't seen all of his work. Bale RARELY plays more than one character. I would never put him anywhere close to Johnny Depp. Just because you can lose a lot of weight does not make you an amazing actor. You want to know a few actors who really submerge themselves in their roles? How about Gary Oldman, Benicio Del Toro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and even some younger ones like Ryan Gosling, Michael Pitt, and Joaquin Phoenix? I've never seen the depth they display in Bale. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong.
