Anton Yelchin Eyeing Role in Terminator 4
Also: Paul Haggis possibly coming in to brush up the script.
When you think of Anton Yelchin, do the words "post-apocalyptic warrior" come to mind?
McG certainly seems to hope so -- according to The Hollywood Reporter, he'd like to cast Yelchin as Kyle Reese in Terminator 4, and the actor is in negotiations to take the role. Also contemplating a trip aboard the good ship Terminator is Paul Haggis, who is said to be in talks to "work on" the script.
If you don't remember who Kyle Reese is or how he fits into the whole Terminator story, here's a helpful breakdown, courtesy of the Reporter:
In "Salvation," the character is a young version of the one played by Michael Biehn, who traveled back in time in the original to impregnate Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and father the world's future savior.
The film picks up with their son (Christian Bale), now in his 30s, fighting desperately to save a decimated civilization against machines that have taken control. It's unclear if the father and child reunion is only a cyborg motion away in the new film.
The report also says Sam Worthington, who joined the cast a couple of weeks ago, will be playing "an early edition of the Terminator cyborg played in previous films by Arnold Schwarzenegger."
Principal photography for Terminator 4 is scheduled to get started in May.

![]() on Mar 20 2008 05:47 AM I remain interested in seeing how this turns out. And before everybody starts blowing spittle, note that Sam Worthington is playing an "early edition" Terminator, not the same model that was played by Schwarzeneggar. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2008 06:31 AM I still have hopes for this movie, I'm not convinced Mcginty with totally screw it up, let's remember, his measuring stick is Rise of the Machines. I only have hope because of Christian Bale, I'm convinced that he can save the franchise if they let him do his thing. I don't know Worthington, but he looks like he could be a T1 or something. I sure a hell don't know about this dork *** they have playing Reece though. I think they'd best just CGI Michael Beighn circa 84 back in it somewhere. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2008 07:38 AM The latest Rambo has an actor in it, who plays one of the mercenaries, that looks a lot like a young Michael Biehn. He is in his 30s, but he could play younger looking, and he certainly looks more like the future hero Reese than Mr. Yelsin does. Enough with the scrawny, awkward men trying to be tough guys already. The name of the actor is Matthew Marsden, he may be related to the guy who plays Cyclops in the X-Men movies. There is such mixed info coming out of this movie, Christian Bale is in it (Yeah!), but Arnold's not (boo), McG is directing (Boo!), but Paul Haggis is working on the script (yeah!). Sam Worthington will be an earlier version Terminator (eh), but some young, scrawny Anton Yelchin is going to be Reese (hmmmm). I don't know, it could go either way on this. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2008 07:38 AM Let's face it, a Terminator movie without Arnold was doomed the moment it was announced. This fact has nothing to do with the naysayers, it's just fact of life; no Arnie no success. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2008 07:41 AM Give Christian Bale a try, maybe he can be of some help. As i recall, the storyline does not revolve around Connor, it led to someone else. Honestly, i have absolutely no hope for this forth segment. Just preserve the first 2 or convince Cameron to do it again...I will always miss arnold and cameron (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2008 07:54 AM The investors should just save their time tell everyone to go home and just pay Arnold the money they were gonna pay the actors and call it a day! And McF'ck should go to the unemployment agency. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2008 08:00 AM are you guys serious? are you saying this movie will suck because arnie's not in it...and IF he was...it'd be good? my only reply to that is...watch the nba all star game highlights...dude is not where he was a few years ago. he just looks lost, and he's like 60. he wouldn't be able to pull off the Terminator role in this, not even with hgh or roids. sorry. if you want Arnie...why not get Clint Eastwood and Hugh Hefner as well...c'mon... bale is the only thing i see positive about this nowadays. this is probably make it or break it time for my boy Bale. if this fails miserabley...Batman 3 might be his last big role in a blockbuster. for some reason he isn't respected enough. on Mar 20 2008 08:24 AM If ever there was a movie proving that Yelchin could play a young Michael Biehn, warrior-survivalist from an appocalyptic future look no further than Charlie Bartlett! ...and if you don't detect sarcasm here, you are IN FACT legally dead. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 20 2008 08:56 AM I say we make a pact, here and now, that we won't blame Christian Bale for this movie when it comes out and sucks ***. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 20 2008 01:37 PM If I didn't know who was directing this movie, I'd actually feel enthusiastic about it. Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle was just so.....bad. I honestly don't remember ever laughing that hard AT a movies expense as I did for that one. (Reply to this) |
