It's awful for him and all those around him. I know what it's like to have little sleep for huge amounts of time, take a lot of sleeping meds, then just wake up 1-2 hrs later. Lack of sleep over time can make people desperate.
Is His work with Gilliam and Tom Waits over then?

It saddened by this news for all his fans, as we have lost a wonderful actor. But I'm more saddened for his daughter, she will never get to grow up with her daddy. May he rest in peace, and may the press leave the family alone to greave in peace.
thats sucks for heath dedger.....he choked on brokeback sausauge i guess..

He could have been huge...very sad news indeed. Life is cruel and death perhaps even crueller.

"Because I've heard it before. And it wasn't funny the first time." That line is from a Batman comic. I forget which. It is said by Batman to the Joker.I am saddened by this news to the point of writing a eulogy for Heath Ledger. It's funny how we deem our heroes immortal; how they are somehow frozen as we see them at their best. For myself, Mr. Ledger will always be frozen as the Joker, and that is just from a trailer on youtube. Our technology is a wonderful thing. We can relive moments of time with our favorite actors and actresses with the push of a button. I invite all of his fans to rent, buy, download...whatever you do, and for two hours or so imagine that he is still alive. Whether it be a gay cowboy looking for love, or an anachronistic knight jousting to Queen, or as time will tell as perhaps the greatest portrayal of the Joker ever.... relive his memory. And watch these movies with some loved ones. They are the important parts of life. It's not exactly a normal world. - The Dark Knight #89RIP H.R.
Wow. I don't know what to say. The Joker was supposed to be the most menacing villain in history and he will never see the success that was sure to come. Two hours ago I said I would not watch this movie because I'm a huge fan and it hurts. But you know what, looking at the love here, bro, come July I'm the first with the Golden Joker ticket. Peace bro.

I'm heart-broken I thought i'd just add...that's all that really needs saying. The rest of the movie fans have said all that needs to be said.

Horrible horrible news. What a great waste of a good actor. And he was looking so promising. Watching his performance as the Joker will be a bittersweet experience.
As a fellow Australian I salute you.

He was becoming one of my favorite actors and he will be missed on and off the screen I am sure. My prayers go out to those close to him especially his young daughter.

Sad for a 28yr old to go like this. I dont recall much of his work but his life was valuable in any case. RIP Sir.

I'm crushed. I am still hoping inside that this is some kind of publicity stunt for the movie, that he will suddenly appear at the premiere of the movie as the joker with his maniacal laugh and stun the entire crowd. It's sad that Heath got so into his character that it affected his health, his sleep..and that the pills he used to sleep are what possibly did him in.RIP Heath.....at least on film you are immortalized.
How could something that's suppose to have a happy ending turned out to be so deadly and sad? And how about seeing the naked body, face down on the floor raised some suspisions?

Heath, you'll be sadly missed. If only you could have seen the adoration that you will receive for a great interpretation of the best villain of all. R.I.P.

Very sad news. His career was only beginning. RIP Heath.
Very sad news, my thoughts and prayers go out to Heath's entire family. He was a great actor who was really on his way (if not already there). I'll be at 'The Dark Knight' opening day with a heavy heart but ready for Heath to entertain me one last time. RIP Heath Ledger.
