(Red Band) Trailer Bulletin: Pineapple Express
All aboard!
It doesn't pull into the station until August, but the makers of Pineapple Express have decided to give you an early taste of the Seth Rogen/James Franco comedy -- if you're over 18, that is.
The red band trailer for Express is up at the movie's official site. It isn't particularly SFW, so if the boss is in earshot, you'll want to keep the volume low...but you'll still want to see it. Here's a synopsis of the film:
Lazy stoner Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver (James Franco): to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop (Rosie Perez) and the city's most dangerous drug lord (Gary Cole), he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him. And it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia; incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.

on Feb 15 2008 06:53 AM Oh holy crap. This looks amazing. I typically don't like stoner comedies, and when I heard the premise I thought to myself "Oh no...what have they done. MISTAKE." But no...no...NO...this looks AMAZING. On par with God's va-jay-jay. (Reply to this) |

on Feb 15 2008 09:50 AM David Gordon Green? WTF? He must be smoking more than the characters in the movie... which looks pretty great, but David Gordon Green? Is this really the same David Gordon Green that did George Washington? Or is this like the Paul T Anderson - Paul W.S Anderson mix up? I'm having difficulty processing that the same guy who did Snow Angels made this movie. But who cares. Seth Rogen rules the universe. (Reply to this) |

on Feb 15 2008 10:07 AM It's the same David Gordon Green... also made that great little flick Undertow. I'm really looking forward to this. (Reply to this) |

![]() on Feb 15 2008 11:22 AM I missed the deluge of free sneak screenings they held when I was out of Los Angeles last summer. A shame, because apparently audiences rated it far higher than "Knocked Up" and "Superbad." Can't come soon enough. (Reply to this) |

on Feb 15 2008 12:44 PM Wow. Just... Wow. "Why do you want to stay here?" "Cause I'm already in the dumpster!" The only part of the trailer that didn't have me laughing was the tired "jumping a car while everyone inside screams" scene. Can't wait for this one. (Reply to this) |

on Feb 15 2008 09:30 PM this really needs to come out sooner than august because i can see myself ODing on hype over the next 6 months. seth rogen pouncing on that guy like a cat was too funny for words. (Reply to this) |

on Feb 16 2008 07:42 AM The part where James Franco tried to kick the windshield out was hilarious. So were the shots of Seth Rogen being an action hero. There's a scene on the Superbad DVD from this movie of Franco introducing the special pot to Rogen, but it wasn't nearly this funny and actually made me lose interest until this trailer. On a relatively-similarly-themed note, does anybody know when Fanboys is coming out? (Reply to this) |
