Dolph Lundgren Giving Command Performance
He writes, he directs, he plays drums, he saves the world!
Hey, what's Dolph Lundgren up to?
The Hollywood Reporter fills us in on the career activities of the onetime Ivan Drago, announcing that Lundgren will be directing and starring in Command Performance, an action thriller (what else?) he co-wrote with Steve Latshaw.
According to the article, Lundgren got his directing start with 2004's The Defender, stepping in for the original director after he "fell ill" -- and since stepping behind the camera, Lundgren's feeling much better about the quality of his films. The storyline for Command Performance, from the Reporter:
Lundgren describes "Command" as " 'Die Hard' at a rock concert," with the story focusing on a drummer for the warm-up band of a big American performer giving a concert for the Russian premier. Naturally, the bad guys break up the show. And just as naturally, the drummer is an ex-Marine.
"I got the idea from Madonna," Lundgren said. "She did a concert for (Russian President Vladimir) Putin a few years ago."
And check it out: Lundgren is not only directing, starring, and helped write the script, but that'll really be him behind the drum kit during the performance scenes. As he tells the Reporter:
I used to play when I was a kid. Now I play at wrap parties after I've had a few tequila shots. It'll be fun.

![]() on Mar 31 2008 07:43 AM These movies kill at blockbusters. Everytime I'm in there getting some previewed movies everybody's got the new VanDamme, Seagal, Dolph or Snipes flick in their hands. I don't understand the appeal but I can't front on them getting their money. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 31 2008 09:23 AM I have a Dolph Lundgren story. I was at the airport with my dad when I was a little kid. This blond haired guy came out of one of the terminals and my dad told me it was He-man, who was my hero at the time. As we were leaving, we stopped to use the restroom and I was at the short urinal and a man walked up and used the urinal next to me. Sure enough, it was Dolph. And no, he didn't shout "By the power of greyskull!" as he whipped it out. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 31 2008 09:59 AM I always thought Dolph was a hermaphrodite. That's how he's able to understand the feminine characteristics in a genius way that women can't even understand. I grew up without parents, just a T.V. and a pack of wolves. In that sense, Dolph was both my mother and my father. . . (Reply to this) |

on Mar 31 2008 10:38 AM F'ck that I thought Dolph's Punisher was way better than the new one. And showdown in little tokyo was the sh't too. We need to get back to these movies again tastfully without the rappers please. If I see DMX in another martial arts action flick i'm burning my tv. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 31 2008 12:18 PM The only thing that could possibly sound more retarded would be a movie about a guy who is given a cocktail that will eventually cause his heart to stop and die thus giving him time to exact revenge against those who poisend him in the first place. Oh wait,,,,, (Reply to this) |
