tomwaitsjr writes: on Apr 08 2008 05:29 PM . . . er, this post is just begging to be FLAMED. Johnny be Good was hilarious when I was about 10-12 years old and saw it. I still remember some scene involving a problem with men having giant testicles. The fact this is his most hated movie probably has to do with some kind of trauma this guy has had involving men with Giant Testicles. (Reply to this) |

Broadway Danny Rose writes: on Apr 09 2008 09:58 AM A film critic with black horn-rimmed glasses has to be a first. If he can develop a smoking habit, a taste for obscure coffees, and add a dose of bitterness at capitalism/America, he'll be able to land on his feet at the Village Voice... if it doesn't work out at MSNBC. Jen Yamato writes: on Apr 09 2008 09:59 AM What are you even talking about? You are so NOT rad. (Reply to this) |

Jen Yamato writes: on Apr 09 2008 10:09 AM Anyway, I really like Alonso's writing voice. It's very mindful of movie history, but at the same time if he's entertained, he'll recommend a film for the pure enjoyment factor. Not the pretentious critic cliche at all. (Reply to this) |

ZebraBob writes: on Apr 09 2008 12:13 PM Barbarella NOT gay? Just because it's got boobs and sex doesn't mean that its not gay. Need an example? Okay... The guy with the wings. ....Completely Gay-AY! (Reply to this) |

Jen Yamato writes: on Apr 09 2008 01:09 PM I like the inclusion of Jackass in his book as well. (Reply to this) |

tomwaitsjr writes: on Apr 09 2008 04:52 PM In reply to this comment (#1678108) Hey Jen Yamato, Can you mention one incident where you think Rotten Tomatoes made a mistake, or interviewed a totally boring jack-***? RT isn't going to improve if there isn't acknowledgement some of the "new" implementations make us sad. (Reply to this) |

BowieSwimmer writes: on Apr 09 2008 05:32 PM Um are you actually hating on Jen Yamato? Leave. Now. I do think this interview was entertaining, it just lacked some deeper questions that probably should have been asked as well. Why so much hate? Not a bad interview, and Alonso does have a great writing voice. I've only read his MSNBC stuff though, so I'm not privy to his older work. (Reply to this) |

Damon687 writes: on Apr 10 2008 07:08 AM RT should probably just disable comments, most of the time I read them they are a completely waste of my brain and just negative garbage. Pretty unbelievable that you guys think a movie critic interview from a movie review site should be hard hitting and include things like his criminal history. That's truly ridiculous, if RT hopes to get future interviews, I would recommend not pulling that BS. RT should be concerned about one thing: MOVIES. (Reply to this) |

BowieSwimmer writes: on Apr 10 2008 08:41 AM Thank you Damon687. People- chill out. This is a movie site. Not CNN. (Reply to this) |

Jen Yamato writes: on Apr 10 2008 11:24 AM The point of this column is to meet a critic - to remember why most of these guys and girls do what they do (they know and love movies) and maybe get you to take a closer look at their work. I'm open to suggestions re: lines of questioning, but I do think they should stay relevant. So feel free to let me know what you think. (Reply to this) |

Jen Yamato writes: on Apr 10 2008 11:32 AM tomwaitsjr, I don't think it's my place to publicly call out what I might find dissatisfying about RT -- those conversations happen behind closed doors here in the office. You may be surprised to find that I often agree with users about their experience with the new site and features. But I don't feel the need to tell you those things just to defend myself...though maybe we can have that conversation if you find me in a bar some night. So, Meet a Critic: do you like it? What would you change? Who would you like to read about? (Reply to this) |
