Twilight Fans Storm Comic-Con, Rewarded With Extended Vampire Fight Scene
Footage + hot young stars + hungry fans = teen zeitgeist moment in the making.
It's official; Twilight, based on the young adult novel series, is a phenomenon in the making. Fans got exactly what they came for and then some when the film's cast and filmmakers unveiled new footage at Comic-Con and answered questions about the teen vampire flick, which hits theaters this December.
Director Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown) and novelist Stephanie Meyer came to share details with the Comic-Con crowd, but it was Twilight's cast of young stars, including Kristen Stewart, Cam Gigandet, and Taylor Lautner, that got the biggest reaction. Well, moreso for 22-year-old Robert Pattinson, who is poised to break out this winter as Edward, Twilight's devastatingly handsome male lead and the vampire half of its central star-crossed pair.
MTV's Larry Carroll guesstimated that 6,500 fans were in attendance for Thursday's packed panel in Hall H, where screaming hordes of Twilight faithful began cheering even before the presentation began. Among other details, Hardwicke confirmed that the film's soundtrack would feature a song by Muse as well as an original composition by star Pattinson, who was rumored to be writing the story's "Bella's Lullaby."
In addition to taking questions from the crowd, the panelists debuted extended footage from the ballet school fight below, which was first seen on MTV last June. Comic-Con fans got to see additional footage from the fight, including earlier moments when Bella is terrorized by bad vampire James (Gigandet), Edward comes to her rescue, and Bella is bitten. (OMG!)
While we wait for Twilight's Comic-Con footage to hit the web, check out the previously released clip of the ballet school fight below.
