Some guy you dont know

Bruce Campbell

While Bruce Campbell is an amazing singer (Hungry like a Wolf ftw) is he really an ideal pick in a musical? I've seen the musical (godly) and Ryan Ward is the best singing Ash ever. Ryan should really star in the musical version, if not Bruce. (let's stick to only two Ashes at the most)

And secondly, ZOMG DUKE NUKEM MOVIE ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!! They better use the Megadeth theme and it better be the best movie ever made or else I, as a fanboy will be annoyed.

The Daredevil reboot sounds like a good idea, especially if they have the owl as the villian. If they did get Frank Miller to write and direct the reboot, that would restore my faith in hollywood studios. They should totally reboot Fantastic Four too (maybe have Franklin Richards in there causing all sorts of chaos). As for the Inside Man sequel, I feel that its completely unncessary. The first one is fine as a stand alone movie. A Duke Nukem movie would be bad *** too.

I am interested in the will smith pharaoh project. He will have to shed his Big Willie persona to pull it off and the only movie that he has done that is in Ali. And Greg, I can't believe you haven't seen Inside Man. Jodie Foster can't appear in the movie. It's complicated but her character is very, very interesting.

Vortex&Vertigo: Inside Man came out during a time when I was really sick, and I'm just really, really far behind on DVDs now.

I dread any comic book movie made by FOX. You need creative directors to make a great comic book movie, and FOX has a policy that they wont hire great director's who want creative control. I wish MARVEL got there hands back on DARE DEVIL. I definitely dont want to see another F4, 2 bad movies are enough. P.S. I know Alex Proyas said he would never work with FOX again, but damn I bet he could make a great DD movie.

Seeing Will Smith as a non-Will Smith character will be nice if the story is decent, and he manages to pull it off. I'll reserve my judgement until I actually see it, but I'd like to be optimistic about it.

A Daredevil reboot sounds cool, but I'm getting bored of the X-Men.

I have heard the musical version of Evil Dead and loved it. I think it would make a great film, and 3-D is even better. With the right seats, it could even be a 4-D experience. Sounds promising.

Is Randal Wallace a good writer ?

I wasn't so excited for The Last Pharaoh cause it was rumored that the writers were from the movie never back down, thank god that turned out to be false. It has a good premise so hopefully they pick a good director.

Daredevil is one of the worst comic book "heros" ever. A blind superhero that can hear well and is an acrobat? That is so stupid and lame. Stan Lee was drunk when he came up with that idea.

I would love to see a real Silver Surfer movie where earth isn't even mentioned. I know it'd be too much of a niche movie to have it all in space with tons of alien races, but the fanboy in me would love it.

okay...the Will Smith project sounds interesting...he's gonna have to immerse himself into this pharoah's persona, and not be the usual "Will Smith"...

As for the X-MEN movie starring the original 5, which is a dope idea, all Im wondering is how are they gonna pull that off with Iceman? Look at how young he was in the X-Men movies and how they introduced his character...not to mention he was pretty much detached from the team...and what about Angel? They introduced him in the 3rd movie and he's also young as hell..

Since the Original 5 started the group I wonder how they'll explain the absence of Angel and Iceman? Not to mention their ages? And they'll probably use different actors as well...

Matanuki .

This talk an X film focused on the original five is a good idea only if they intend to attempt a reboot akin to what they're doing with Daredevil. They pull it off successfully, then perhaps that will leave hope for the rest of the great X Men characters to finally get a proper film treatment in a new ongoing series that doesn't revolve around Wolverine. Counting on it? Not quite.

I am however very much interested in Will Smith's pet project.

I forgot to mention that the title that Fox licensed earlier this summer was "X-Men: First Class", which is also the title of an ongoing Marvel Comics title about the original five members (which is where I got that concept from):

As for they would do this in movie form... like others have said, they could just say it's a reboot and go from there. It worked for Batman.

As much as I love Evil Dead, and as much as I believe it's a decent musical to see, I have nothing but feelings of regret as it being a movie-musical.

For example, I still can't believe Lionsgate is going to bring us "Repo:The Genetic Musical."

Even for Lionsgate I have a hard time with a film starring Paris Hilton about people doing Pythonesque "Live Organ Transplants" to music. . .

as far as Ginsberg goes, Franco also lended his voice to the God Awful pseudo-documentary Chicago 10, which just came out on video and SUCKS.

Will Smith's egyptain Pharhao movie that he's got going here is gonna be out next summer (may probably) and is gonna be atleast 60 percent CGI.... Will Smith is a really good actor, and i think that he just proved that to everyone with Pursuit of Happiness and I Am Legend but this sounds like another way to get money, or maybe i am done with historical war movies after witnessing the boring and dreadful CGI fest that was called "10,000 B.C."

i love all 3 Evil Dead films... but have never seen the musical.... either way, i shall watch this movie if they make it.... but i am still awataing Campbell and Raimi to come together again and do an Evil Dead 4

Daredevil reboot could actually be really good... especially if they focus on the Frank Miller stories as well.... i haven't read them or anything, but Frank Miller is an amazing graphic novel maker, and this could turn out really good.... but then again anything is better then that one movie that came out 4-5 years ago that was called "Daredevil"... but we all know it was just an excuse for Ben Affleck to put on tights and prove to everybody that he can actually act worse!

Johnny Depp has his shi tty movies and his amazing movies.... either way he is one of the best actors in Hollywood at the moment, in my opinion, but a voiceover for a CGI movie i could care less about

Duke Nukem sounds like it could be more ridiculous than the video game itself!!!! but i shall watch it, as that video game was really ****ing fun

off subject now that they mentioned blue man group.... but is anybody else with me when i say "they better do Watchmen right!".... i thought the trailer was amazing, and this movie could be tied with Dark Knight for excellent superhero movies... that is, if they do it right... which they better... but i trust Zack Synder... 300 wasan't really my type of movie, but as far as graphic novel based movies go... he did a really good job!

Greg, what did you think of the original Daredevil movie? Not being a huge reader of the comics, I quite enjoyed the film for what it was: a fairly straight forward superhero movie with decent action and likable characters.

I really thought there was some cool darkness to the character of Matt Murdoc (killing that rapist on the train tracks and such). But I was not sure if that was representative of the source material. If they reboot it, what would Frank Miller (or whoever the get) to do differently?

About the Daredevil movie... okay, well, first of all, you hit something on the head: "a fairly straight forward superhero movie."

Okay, here's the deal on the comic books. For the first 15 years or so, Daredevil was indeed just that. He was basically a B-list Spider-Man clone. Spidey had spider-sense. Daredevil had his sonar. Spidey swung around webs? Daredevil had a baton with a grappling hook line. Spidey was a mild mannered college student? Daredevil was a mild mannered lawyer. They both fought crime in New York, and shared a lot of villains. There was pretty good art for much of that time (Gene Colan), but the writing didn't live up to it.

Enter: Frank Miller, 1979. Initially just the artist, a year later he took over writing duties as well, and a fan sensation was born. A character who nearly lost his title due to low sales was injected with a new depth, and it didn't hurt that Miller was breaking new ground with his artwork, drawing upon references going all the way back to Golden Age artist Lou Fine (fine pencilling, and action that broke out of the panels on the page, for example). Introducing the romantic interest of Elektra, and bumping up a minor villain called Bullseye to being a one-man killing machine, Miller set out on a complicated crime epic that also involved the Kingpin. This all led to one of the most shocking single comic book issues ever... Daredevil #181, and the Death of Elektra. She came back later, but that wasn't really the point, because we didn't know she would at the time (that she did is still a sticking point with many fans). As a single contained story arc, Daredevil #168 to #181 still stands as one of the greatest crime comic stories ever told.

The Daredevil movie had the four major characters of that story arc, but didn't follow the story the same way. Daredevil #181, in particular, should have been depicted point by point exactly the same. Yes, Elektra dies in the movie... but it's just not the same. You have to read that issue (and preferably that whole arc), to see the difference. To fans of that story arc, the movie was something of an abomination, honestly.

Now, can we expect a new Daredevil movie to go back to that particular arc? No, but after that, Daredevil was handled as a serious character, with several other good stories to follow. I'd suggest Daredevil: Born Again, which sees Kingpin's ultimate victory over Matt Murdock. It's a crushing story. Not written by Frank Miller, but it would be awesome to see his visual style applied to that story:

Matanuki .

You couldn't be more right. They would be well advised to model Born Again all the way down to the title itself. Not only does it offer a vastly superior reboot of an erstwhile pedestrian and failed movie franchise, but it allows for the opportunity to prove that Daredevil is a character deserving of the kind of movie success and serious treatment that Batman and Iron Man are enjoying. The question is will Fox attach this level of ambition to the project. It's perhaps not likely but it is definitely worth hoping for. Especially when you consider how criminally understated the value of the character and his mythology are to the uninitiated, particularly on these boards.
