In my mind Youngblood was one of the more boring of the Image comic lines when it launched. I'd be excited if Liefeld was interested in doing Savage Dragon, but Youngblood? Sounds dull to me.

I have and will forever refuse to pay money for anything attached to the hack that is Rob Liefeld. Youngblood was nothing more than a poorly drawn knock-off of the X-Men in a pathetic attempt to capitalize on what he started with his poorly drawn runs in New Mutants and X-Force. Consider me completely uninterested.Yeah, Deadpool was one of his "creations" so I wasn't all that crushed by his butchering in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Savage Dragon was Erik Larsen's creation, not Rob's.
And "ditto" Racer Z.

Youngblood defines everything wrong about comics in the 90's. Unless the characters were made of rock or had fins, I couldn't tell them apart - this includes the women and men. This looks like a mess.
Hmmmm so they are making a movie based on a comic most people have never heard of, and most of the people who have heard of it love to hate it. Created by a guy everyone loves to hate. Directed by a guy everyone loves to hate. And now they've hired two writers who have done essentially nothing. Yeah...that sounds like a massive hit to me. ;)

I thought this was going to be about a sequal to the Rob Lowe Hockey Movie from the 80's of the same name. Color me disappointed.

Sorry to pile on but I found this hilarious..."Given the comic book series%u2019 occasionally adult-oriented subject matter, which combined massive action sequences with discussion of modern politics and celebrity culture..."Are they serious with this??? That's almost as bad as Ratner stating that Youngblood was "one of the last great graphic novels of our time". I still have giggle fits when I read that.

Drama? Dealing with serious issue? Is this article really talking about Youngblood here?
I would watch an Aquaman vs Namor movie before I would watch a Youngblood one.
This movie is shaping to be a pointless adaptation from a pointless director of a pointless comic from a pointless writer/artist that cames out in a almost-pointless hero of comic-book history.

Someone should shoot Rob Liefeld and Jeph Loeb into space so we never have to read their garbage again, or just ban them from using their "creative" talents. Either works.
May 13 - 07:53 PM
Don't lump Loeb into this. This is the same man who wrote Batman: The Long Halloween. A story Nolan used as one of his inspirations for his Bat universe. Even called the pre-Gordon commissioner, "Commissioner Loeb" in honor of him. No...the blame for the trainwreck that is Youngblood goes squarely on Rob Liefeld's shoulders. And just for the record, Deadpool didn't become cool until after Rob left Marvel to start Youngblood. Before that, he was just a Wolverine/Deathstroke/Spider-Man rip off.

It's not easy to adapt a mistake and make it good. They've got their work cut out for them, to say the least...

If this (somehow!) actually manages to get made two things are guaranteed: 1) its only distribution will be in comic convention video bins alongside the Justice League TV movie and New Horizon's Fantastic Four, and 2) it'll make Spawn look like The Godfather.
