notoriousprod writes: on Jul 10 2009 05:53 AM Justin Timberlake? GTFO!! Go ahead and pick Justin ****ing Timberlake and see what happens. Ryan Reynolds? Sorry he's Deadpool. Bradley Cooper is the ONLY feasible choice of those 3. (Reply to this) |

rizzyh writes: on Jul 10 2009 06:29 AM I can't believe this shi.t. GL is probably one of the hottest comic properties DC has right now, with the awesome Sinestro Corps War last year and the upcoming Blackest Night storyline, and they actually put Justin Timberlake and Deadpool in the finalists? Timberlake is an obvious joke and the last time they pulled in a MARVEL star to headline a DC property things didn't go so well. (Halle Barry or Cyclops)I think this is definitely a ploy to try and get people to start supporting their choice for Bradley Cooper, which has probably already has been finalized. This sucks, since i haven't been a big fan of Bradley cooper since, well, ever. If you're going to spend $200 mil on a franchise movie, get someone people just LOVE, which is why Nathan Fillion was such an awesome choice. Nevermind about the age/look thing, the guy can act and is very comfortable as cocky hotshot in almost EVERYTHING he's ever done (Serenity, Castle, Drive). But still, i just hope that they can pull off amazing visuals and a great story, and that Bradley Cooper will just blow us all away with his performance. Personally, i get the impression that every character he's done since Wedding Crashers is just a derivation if that role. (Reply to this) |

Looselycult writes: on Jul 10 2009 06:42 AM This sucks. Justin Timberlake is probably the most capable actor for the role, but he is too short and too boyish looking. Ryan Reynolds is just too goofy and I just can't take him seriously, and Cooper just has too much of that fratboy scumbag thing going on for him.If only I could get my time machine to work, so I could go back 25 years and get Dennis Quaid. Uggghhh! (Reply to this) |

aknddon4 writes: on Jul 10 2009 06:44 AM Bradley Cooper is at risk of becoming a typecast actor. As long as he remembers that he is an actor first, and not a charicature, I feel he can probably do well as Hal Jordan. Not too sure what Justin Timberlake's name is doing on this list though. Your buddy, aknddon4 - because sometimes the sequel is better (Reply to this) |

supermanofsteel writes: on Jul 10 2009 07:10 AM Not my top choices for Green Lantern, but out of those three, Bradley Cooper would be my pick. Ryan Reynolds might be okay, but yes, he is Deadpool. And Justin Timberlake, while very funny and seems to be an overall nice guy, I cannot imagine ever playing Hal Jordan. (Reply to this) |

K C. writes: on Jul 10 2009 07:10 AM I think Justin's not bad as an actor. But he does bring too much baggage to a 200 mil project though. The poblem all 3 of these nom's have to overcome is public image/perception. Frat boy vs goofball vs boyband. (Reply to this) |

K C. writes: on Jul 10 2009 07:14 AM o'ya..one thing. I've never been a big fan of GL as a kid. How big are they? A 200 mil movies is very risky once you include marketing for anything not part of the SuperBatSpider monster. Do enough ppl really care about GL? (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Jul 10 2009 08:21 AM In reply to this comment (#2525243) I think whether enough people care about GL is irrelevant. As Iron Man showed us, second or third tier characters can have their day in the sun if brought to fore by capable innovators. I'm hoping both Deadpool AND Green Lantern get assigned them. We keep wishing for a great new sci fi franchise to sink our teeth into but wind up getting Transformers 2 and Terminator: Salvation, The Day The Earth Stood Still, RoboGeisha, Dragobball Evolution. I agree with most that none of these actors arrive as likely fits, but for me that's a good thing. We've seen a lot of good happen in recent years with actors in unlikely roles and directors behind unlikely scripts. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Jul 10 2009 08:49 AM Really guys? I honestly dont think Timberlack is a horrible idea. I mean he's honestly kind of a good actor, he was good in Alpha Dog and even Southland Tales. Yes it would be weird to see him as Hal Jordan for now, but he would be able to beef up and Warners would just have to be able to sell him properly to convince people he's more then a singer. He also would definitely cause recognition since the general public obviously doesn't know a whole lot about The Green Lantern. I think Bradley Cooper is alright, but I agree when people say he kind of has this jock/prep thing going on. I think Ryan Reynolds could do it but yes he was already Deadpool so it would be odd. The only two choices I have ever heard that I kind of liked were Chris Pine and Ryan Gosling. (Reply to this) |

Cuban Raft Rider writes: on Jul 10 2009 08:59 AM Jutin Timberlake? **** no. I've been waiting for this movie for years and if they **** it up on a scale of that magnitude I will pissed. Ryan Reynolds? I could see him in Green Lantern. Doing a Flash cameo. Brady Cooper is a good choice. He has the look and he can act. I supported this choice ever since the rumor first serviced a few months ago. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Jul 10 2009 09:05 AM In reply to this comment (#2525280) Reynolds in GL for a Flash cameo? That's one of the better ideas I've heard today. (Reply to this) |

buddablz writes: on Jul 10 2009 10:14 AM Are these the only 3 that are having second round test screenings? They must have put up a real effort into the character. Ultimately, it's the studio's decision. But I really hope they don't go with Ryan Reynolds. He's Deadpool with a movie in development. Justin Timberlake can act but I'm not sure how he'll look. I've seen him with a messy facial hair look for a while, I think he would look young if he went clean cut for Hal Jordan. I think Bradley cooper is a fine choice. He does play that frat type character well but I like him. I saw Midnight Meat Train and it could show you doubters that he can play a character that you would generally care about instead of that guy you hate from Wedding Crashers. What happened to Ryan Gosling? (Reply to this) |

John N. writes: on Jul 10 2009 10:39 AM I'm surprised the studio didn't throw Dane Cook in the mix as well. Cooper I think is easily the best choice of these three. Ryan Gosling and Timberlake are not masculine enough for leading superhero roles. Chris Pine I think could do well, but I think Cooper is more charismatic and would deliver better one-liners. Greg_Arious writes: on Jul 10 2009 11:00 AM How are they going to deal with Justin's 14 year old girl voice? No TDK voice deepening technology can save him. (Reply to this) |

JettaJameson writes: on Jul 10 2009 11:05 AM Justin Timberlake seems to have worked VERY hard on his acting skills and it shows. If you compare his first job ever, the terrible Model Perfect TV movie to his latest stints on SNL, you can see a dramatic difference. I think he could pull it off. I like all three of them, so whoever they go with won't make a difference for me. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Jul 10 2009 11:09 AM In reply to this comment (#2525309) Not "masculine" enough?... (Reply to this) |

John N. writes: on Jul 10 2009 11:17 AM In reply to this comment (#2525320) Um, yeah. Male superheroes are generally very masculine. I don't think GL is an exception. Ryan Gosling IMO would be just as likely to weep on camera as kick someone's ***, and Timberlake to break out into song and dance. (Reply to this) |
