I could get into Rodriguez doing DEADPOOL. Maybe we'd get something a little darker than just a straight-forward comic-based movie. Although, if they were going to dip into that Tarantinoesque well of directors, I would just as soon see Eli Roth attached to the project.

It always seems like Robert Rodriquez COULD be directing something. I wish he'd do more actual directing and less potential directing, possibly on Sin City 2.

Well, he is over the top.

Jonah Hex doesn't look good at all. Not being screened for critics seems to indicate I'm right. It pains me to say that, because I think Josh Brolin is One Cool Dude.
Jun 15 - 08:55 AM
Yeah, seems like they cast Josh Brolin and just gave up on anything else good. Josh is a talented actor, but I'm not sure if he's in the carry a piece of crap by himself mold just yet.

Why the hell would you spin-off an already unsuccessful spin-off of an already faltering franchise?
Jun 15 - 11:01 AM
Could be interesting. If Rodriguez gets attached, I think we will be guranteed the ridiculous, over the top, doesn't take itself seriously for a second Deadpool movie.

It would be awesome if they could adapt the first Deadpool solo arc written by Joe Kelly. That thing had everything: comedy, action, drama and the whole truth about T-Ray & Mercedes was so shocking and sad, i was blown away by how seamlessly he pulled it off. Then again, we are talking about Joe Kelly here. The Guy who wrote "What's so funny about Truth, Justice...." as well as The 1st 2 Superman/Batman annuals.IMO One of the best writers of all time! (Write up there with Geoff Johns)

I'd rather see him just do Sin City 2, but he seems hellbent on making sure that project never goes into production. Not the biggest fan of RR, personally I think he's a bit overrated. Besides Sin City, I think El Mariachi and Desperado are his only movies that are worth a damn. With this being the 3rd superhero project Reynolds is attached to (including Paper Man) and his upcoming gratuitous Sandra Bullock rom-com, it definetly leads one to wonder if this movie will ever see the light of day as well.

Rodriguez has a certain style that's all his own, and I can't see it translating into a comic book adaptation film. Sure he pulled off Sin City with flying colors, but that wasn't exactly a "color-by-numbers" comic book film.

If they do this film, does it count as an X-men film? More importantly, will it count as an iteration in the franchise which would reset the clock of Fox retaining the rights to X-Men?

Deadpool is one of my top 3 characters. When Iron Man was supposed to come out, a lot of people weren't happy with Favreau doing it but he blew people's minds. If Rodriguez does this, the deck is stacked but he might be able to pull it off. Or just for the sake of Deadpool. Rodriguez might "pool" it off.

I am so for this, Deadpool is also one of my favorite Marvel characters and I think Mr. Rodriguez can pull this off
