This week was chockful of so many movie announcements that the Weekly Ketchup could have been a top 20 instead of a top 10, but these jewels of the week include new movies for acclaimed directors Martin Scorsese and Terry Gilliam, sequels for Sex and the City and Bloodsport and a movie based on the Candy Land board game.

This week, after spending some time in Utah hitting the slopes and pretending to care about independent filmmaking, Hollywood got right back in the groove, doing what they do best: greenlighting prequels, sequels, remakes and reboots. Of this week's top 10 stories, only three movies don't fit into one of those categories.

The Oscar nominations obviously dominated the news this week, but there's also a few new animated movies to report, lots of casting and the word on what the director of 1998's Godzilla might be doing next.

As if we need further reminders of how the world's current situation resembles the Great Depression, this week, four of of the ten top headlines have their origins in the era between 1900 and World War II, and the remake trend moves forward a bit to now focus on two superhero-ish movies from the mid 1990s.

This week sees a surprising lack of the remakes we've gotten used to seeing in the Weekly Ketchup, with the shelving of one horror remake balancing out a movie that is only a remake in as much as it tackles a subject mostly only adapted in Japanese movies most of us haven't seen. Sequels, however, are quite alive and kicking, as always.

There wasn't much going on in Hollywood last week because of Thanksgiving, but this week, the studios came back with a vengeance, and what they set their sights upon are several remakes and a couple of sequels to successful blockbusters, as well as yet another project for Johnny Depp.

This week saw lots of high profile movies getting news attention, so in this Ketchup, you'll see lots of stories having to cover multiple movies, so I can cheat my way into only having ten stories; there was just a lot more going on this week than just ten things!

This week's big ten includes the expected mix of remakes (The Karate Kid, Pinocchio), comic book adaptations and... Ridley Scott directing Monopoly?

This week's Weekly Ketchup features new roles for Javier Bardem, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Naomi Watts and Catherine Zeta-Jones in a diverse batch that hits most of the obligatory marks. Videogame? Check. Comic book superhero? Check. Remake? Check. Ashton Kutcher? Sigh...

Shockingly, we've gone two weeks in a row without hearing any new remakes announced, but there are some interesting-sounding projects for a few popular and/or talented directors. This week also saw an unusually high number of ambitious titles being cancelled. Read on for the Weekly Ketchup!

The villain in this summer's The Incredible Hulk was the Abomination, and that sums up a lot of what is going on in this week's Ketchup. There's one great bit of casting news to start us off, but from there, and a couple of possibly interesting projects, but for the most part, get ready for lots of sequels and remakes.
